Question about reading cards:

Does it matter what is written after the >?

If you have a card and different lines read:

>10-gb(2b)B+

and

>3-SINGLE(rf)

Neither of these mean anything, right? You just go by the roll of the 20-die against the ballpark, correct?

Similarly BPHR: If you have this line:

#8-HR 1-8
fly(cf)B 9-20

the result means nothing, right? Only the roll against the park.

If that is correct, why do they bother making a result in the first place, especially in the HR case where they spent 2 lines on something that ends up being meaningless?

I can only conclude that this entire game was invented and specifically designed to confuse me.

The results after the # and > are meaningless. Those results are disregarded and the ballpark chart is used to determine play result.

The reason why there are actual results listed there is because ballpark effects are merely an option to enhance the game. If you're playing the board game with cards and dice, you can choose to ignore the ballpark and clutch effects and just play with the listed results.

I believe the rules of the card and dice game changed over the years. The results [u:3f208003de]do[/u:3f208003de] matter [u:3f208003de]if[/u:3f208003de] you are playing the card and dice game and choose not to use ballpark effects. You could also choose not to use clutch rules, etc.

Your post reminds me of the original cards I used to play with way back when. No lefty/righty, no clutch, no ball parks, no pitcher fatigue. Life was simpler then. Hahahaha....

Thanks guys. That's what I always thought it was, but then I started wondering why the results would be there. Then I thought maybe the BPHR only went into effect if the roll was 1-8 there or something.
