24-inning playoff elimination game

Postby andycummings65 » Wed Jun 22, 2011 8:33 am

On the brink of elimination, scored one with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th to go to extra innings, scored 1 in the 13th and 16th to maintain the tie, then scored the winning run in the 24th.
Maybe its lke the 2004 ALCS....or maybe i will get eliminated tonight :D

Nolan Ryan is the only one who didnt pitch. Schilling threw the last 4 innigns and got the win, and he's supposed to start the next game! :o

Scary

Wow, 24 innings! Has anybody here ever played a longer game?

I'm going to assume that each team had 24 man rosters. One of the teams used 22 players and the other used 23. Who got the day off? Has anyone ever been involved in a game where more than 45 players were used?

What's really scary is Clemens and Matlock out of the bullpen for one team and Randy Johnson and Schilling out of the bullpen for the other team. Yikes!

Very interesting to see that both teams were scoreless with very few hits for more than 7 innings, even though the pitchers were mostly at F0 or on the verge of being at F0.

Yes, it was a classic. Only Johan Santana & Lee Tannehill didn't get off my bench. Amazingly, Leroy Matlock had thrown a complete game in Game 3 and came back to go 6 2/3 at F0 until losing in the bottom of the 24th.

And I too was having flashbacks to the 2004 ALCS, just not hoping for the comeback this time

Actually I love games like this one! I was wondering before if they made a Generic card for any position player in case you actually do use all your pitchers? Something that HAL has hidden and would only use if you exhausted all pitchers or in a crazy blowout...

I had a 23-inning game about 10 days ago, regular season so the implications were nowhere near as important. Thought that was a once-in-a-lifetime deal but apparently not.
