Idea for making trades easier

Idea for making trades easier

Postby Valen » Fri Jul 22, 2011 11:31 pm

Sometimes I think about sending a trade offer during the season but the other guy does not have the version of the player I really want. When I calculate cap feasibility I do not have the money to make the trade and take the cap hit to swap the player out. So no offer sent.

Suppose though that in the offer I could specify which version of a player I want coming my way. For examply other guy has the 9 mil Brett. I send an offer but specify the expensive Brett be the one I get with no cap penalty since it is a trade.

Great idea, but the potential for abuse exists

Valen: Great idea, but the potential for abuse exists in that people would be able to circumvent the drop penalty by trading an under performing player to another team and then reacquiring a different version of that player in a separate deal. Also, what would prevent someone from trading back and forth different versions of a pitcher to better suit that night's opponent? Worse yet, how about people trading back and forth low priced versions of pitchers who have a cheap card and an expensive card (Gaylord Perry and Don Sutton for example), who were not scheduled to pitch that night, so that they could clear cap space and bulk up their hitting for that night's games?

As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for, you might just get it! - Bernie W
