This team had a shot until Paige went winless in his last 12 or 13 starts.

That's a good one Adrian. So, the max win total from a 5th pitcher so far (with four 20s) is 15.

Thanks for sharing that.

At the request of Valen -

My team won Game 6 of the Semi's tonight, 6-2, thereby advancing to the Finals. Good pitching matchup; I had Reulbach going vs Koufax. Played in my park. Kept the pedal to the metal the whole series. Stole 7 in game 6 with none thrown out. For the 6 game series, I stole 42 bases and was caught only 7 times. But, my opponent played the whole series with his backup catcher, M. Batts, a +1 thrower. However, he could have put Sanguillen (-2 arm) in for G6 (He was injured for the first 5 but healthy for G6), but he left Batts in. I think he may have have spaced making the lineup move.

Here is the box score -

Given that we may never again see a 4 man rotation in real life what might be the equivalent in excellence for a 5 man rotation. 4 x 20 = 80 which is say 80% of a dominant season. But not sure we can just divide 8- by 5 and say 16 is the equivalent. Asking any team to put up 5 rotation guys with 16 is asking a lot. But 15 x 5 is only 75 which without a nice bullpen contribution is not even a winning record and would require a substantial bullpen contribution to be a great team.

Final update - The Royal Bandits swept their finals to take the ring. Took a big 5 run comback (keyed by a Sisler 3 run shot) in the top of the 9th to win G3. For the playoffs, my 5 man staff put up a 2.64 ERA with a 1.33 WHIP. Adams, Reulbach and Lanier were a combined 7-0 in the post season. My RPs only threw 1 inning total in the combined 10 games.
Hit .291 as a team, stole 60 bases and was caught 21 times. Sisler would have to be the MVP; hit .475 with the big HR in the G3 comeback, and led the team with 12 RBI and stole 7 bases in 9 attempts. Eddie Collins hit .310 and led the team with 13 steals in 16 attempts. W. Wilson hit an outstanding .500, with a HR, 7 RBI and 12 steals in 15 attempts. Conversely, Frisch, Wills and Suzuki took the playoffs off; all batted below .200. Fortunately, the other guys picked them up. I guess speed DID kill, at least with this team. :)
