Bagwell's 1994 Card - 15 Game Injury?

[quote:32b9720d16]Not sure if the risk is overrated. Lost too many playoffs due to key guys getting wiped out for the rest of the season. [/quote:32b9720d16]

This team disagrees. Probably a fluke, but still, the premise was to get as many "undervalued due to injury risk" players as possible and "roll the dice" on avoiding those injuries and it couldn't have gone better.

Speaking of Bagwell and the 94 season, here's a nice start, in Shea 71! He's my insurance policy, and it's paying off so far.

It's so weird to see MM with these slugging teams. Can't quite wrap my head around that....

There's no doubt the 15-game injury is a factor. I had him on my last team and was fortunate enough to have the luxury of resting him the last 3 games of the season, in fear that I'd lose him for the playoffs.

He played in 155 games for me and had a monster year in Shea '71, a LH HR park. .365 BA, .447 OBP, .756 SLG, w/43 doubles and 62 HRs. Considering I sat him for 3 games intentionally, that means he had just 4 missed games due to injury. I've had him on another team and he played in 160 games.

But I have been killed with other 15-game injury cards. I had one on the same team that I mentioned first. Reggie Jackson missed 22 games due to injury in the regular season and then lost him in game 1 of the finals for the remainder of the playoffs. These 15-gamers are a gamble.

If I have them on my team I try to have a good defensive backup in hopes I can ride out the loss of offense with some D in the field.

I have totally turned to the dark side and embraced my inner masher. Actually, with these teams, I'm going for OBP and total bases, for the most part, trying to optimize scoring and create the perfect machine. So far it's been pretty successful.

Even won 100 games with my team that holds the scoring record (1620 runs)

Now I only need to get my Pythagorean records to match up with my actual record. The last three record-setting teams 2,3,4 (still need to post one) all scored more runs than they gave up.

Here's my latest, also with Bagwell-- http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/stratomatic/team/team_other.html?user_id=356520

Still tinkering with the pitching on that one.
