Going all in on cdrom

I had the same issue with the floppies, pissed me right off. It's the most illogical thing I've ever heard of. I think Valen has phrased it better than I have in the past . . . like selling your own car back to you. Yeah, no thanks, I'll walk. I did get info about the exchange, but never that it was ending . . . because, you know, why would you stop supporting your own product?

You'll love the responses I got on the stratomatic fan forum boards. The players over there have no sympathy because they all got the frequent notices. It'll be interesting to see how the merger brings us together.

Some responses to my complaints about the re-purchasing policy:

[quote:32fca67a51]They promoted and reminded several times about the deadline on their website and in emails. Truthfully, TSN and their computer versions are mutually exclusive and while I agree its frustrating to be out in the cold with these disks, the onus wasnt on SOM to advertise this on TSN... [quote:32fca67a51]This has been bantered about sufficiently to get all of the viewpoints out. the bottom line is that the company made the decision to move forward from the diskettes, announced and offered an exchange program for a reasonable amount of time, and over a year has passed since the deadline. Plus, the old versions still provide a gamer with a way to use the product.

Hal's been at it for over 50 years now and is going strong. Companies that don't provide acceptable customer service don't last that long and are not as succesful.[/quote:32fca67a51]

[quote:32fca67a51]True, but SOM DID advertise the program, they gave a countdown to when it would end and so on.. As with any software company, comes a time and a place to elimnate legacy product and move on.

If you hadnt check in on the SOM website or even dropped them a line to inquire about this after 8 versions of the game, it really isnt SOM's fault..

I am the first to admit I have had issues here and there with ordering and getting the wrong items etc, but in this case it really isnt their fault.. [/quote:32fca67a51]
