I had to go back and look up how many errors he has made for me (24). With the offensive output I have had from him, I don't care about the defensive liability he may be at third.

Nothing special here with Mathews playing on Braves theme team in Fulton County. 63 home run pace but overall looks anemic by the current Mathews standard. .217 batting average after 54 games.

Just another view on Mathews...

in Sportsman's Park after 367 ABs he's hit 62 homers; he is 20 ahead of his teammate and nearest rival in HRs -Maris - who has 42. (Vaughan is also on the squad and has 32 homers to go with a .412 average.) Mathews is batting .349 and his 135 RBIs is far ahead of the pack.

Certainly earning his keep in this scenario!
