I have watched Josh Hamilton and Elvis Andrus score from second on ground ball outs to short with no errors needed.

It worked on a bunt for Jake Taylor and Willie Mays Hayes in 1989.

1) Rickey was too great of an athlete to knock himself out running into the wall.
2) Mauer would [b:70b2f64964]NOT[/b:70b2f64964] be tagging up! Most runners do not advance from 2nd to 3rd on a fly to LF.
3) If Mauer [b:70b2f64964]DID[/b:70b2f64964] tag up, and Henderson pulled up short and played the ball off the wall, Mauer would not be able to score. So every time an opponent has Mauer on 2nd and someone doubles to LF, I expect Mauer to either only advance to 3rd or be out at the plate. Because apparenty he tags up in that situation every time in order to be prepared for a play that happens once every 20 years.

Point #1 - Whatever. Superman was too strong to die. Except they killed him. Barry Sanders was too elusive to tackle, except that he didn't score on every possession. Rickey says, "Rickey was a great athlete, but Rickey was not stronger than the wall."

Point #2 - If Mauer is doing what he should be doing (looking at his third base coach) he is running because the ball is hit to the wall and Rickey says, "Rickey was a great player, but Rickey didn't have the best arm." Mauer's coach has him tagging when Rickey runs into the wall.

Point #3 - Rickey says, "But Rickey did not pull up short and play the ball off the wall... Rickey ran right into that wall."

Rickey says, "Crazy plays happen in baseball. Rickey likes crazy plays. They make Rickey laugh."

I may not be reading this correctly, but does the "x" mean it was a fielding chart play and possibly a wild throw allowed Mauer to advance home?
