Great years from Ruth & Mantle and no MVP??

Check out the Ruth and Mantle stats, best offensive years I've had out of two guys. Neither one wins the MVP (Mays did) and to make matters worse,( 3 way tie for first in my division, one of them wasn't me, I finished 1 game out), I miss the playoffs by 1 game.
