WHO ARE THE BEST NICKLE (.50) PLAYERS???

Postby ADRIANGABRIEL » Fri Jun 02, 2006 3:34 pm

My 5 most used pitchers:
Player-W-L-SV-ERA-WHIP
Roe, P. 99-107-2 4.97 1.44
Garman, M. 51-96-199 5.76 1.72
Wilks, T. 39-47-3 5.34 1.49
Aguilera, R. 33-54-17 5.17 1.51
Miller, S. 20-36-26 5.52 1.81

Roe, a you can see, is very respectable for a .50 guy. And despite the saves, once I really realized how much Garman has sucked, he's virtually non-existant on my teams now.

5 most used hitters:
Player-BA/SLG/OBP
Stahl, C. .252/.345/.321
Chalk, D. .230/.308/.288
Pena, T. .202/.290/253
Rossman, C. .229/.256/.260
Jose, F. .247/.350/.284

It's an Omen, Chick Stahl's OPS is .666. He is a beast among .50 guys.

Here's my 10 most used cheap hitters, ranked by OPS:

AVE SLG OBP OPS
Steinbach, T. 0.250 0.384 0.289 0.673
Quirk, J. 0.249 0.361 0.280 0.641
Walker, H. 0.228 0.360 0.275 0.636
Bernazard, T. 0.229 0.341 0.285 0.626
Garbey, B. 0.251 0.336 0.283 0.619
Averill, E. 0.250 0.336 0.283 0.618
Reynolds, C. 0.233 0.336 0.270 0.605
Williams, D. 0.204 0.360 0.229 0.589
Collins, S. 0.243 0.317 0.265 0.582
Roseboro, J. 0.223 0.305 0.273 0.578

Steinbach has been amazing for me, much better than the legendary Johnny Roseboro. Quirk has been a platoon DH for me in a cheap league and hit .260/17/54 in 400 ABs. Walker's versatility makes him a nice choice.

And my 10 most used cheap pitchers, by ERA:

ERA WHIP
Garman, M. 4.51 1.45
Rommel, E. 4.80 1.54
Dreisewerd, C. 4.97 1.52
Moose, B. 5.14 1.57
Carlson, H. 5.32 1.50
Horton, R. 5.41 1.57
Faber, R. 5.62 1.62
Shoffner, M. 5.75 1.69
Vance, D. 6.23 1.75
Lea, C. 6.28 1.85

I've had much better luck with Garman, using him as maximized closer avoid lefties in neutral/pitcher parks. Vance looks terrible, but he's used exclusively in the smallest bomber parks.

Hitters... I like Wood, Shuba, Quirk, and Craft (who doesn't like a 1e1 in CF for a nickel!)

If we had control instead of HAL, I'd like Tinker (A stealer, and could PH with him to strategically use his A Bunt, B H&R), plus a 2 at SS (ok, let's forget about the e46) and he has 11 positive clutch effects vs. R's!!! Then even though he only hit one HR in 523 AB's, somehow he has N power against both sides.. a great array of potential, at least for a nickel card.

Pitchers.. I like Wilks, Knowles, Burns, and Tudor
