McCovey in RF? Or...

Postby pete_puma » Thu Jul 06, 2006 7:06 am

I got a nice draft, but ended up with Yaz (in Fenway 86) instead of a good RF. I had drafted McCovey to play LF, and Joe Judge at 1B.

So now I'm wondering with waivers coming up -- can I live with McCovey as my RF, or should I dump Judge and pick up a bargain RF and play Willie at 1B?

Best options in my price range seem to be:

Leibold
Heathcote
Devore
Bass

any thoughts? My lineup is pretty well balanced though I need OBP vs. slugging if I replace Judge.

You should post a link to your team. (Go to your standings page, click on your team, then copy the link which will appear in your address field on your menu. It will end with a number. Then, paste that link here in your message). But, with what you said, I would have Yaz in LF, and go with Heathcote or Devore in RF. I would use McCovey at 1b ONLY if you really need the power bat. He will hit a ton of HRs, but your park is not a big HR park. If there are other HR parks in your division, McCovey will feast on RH pitching. If your division is full of pitching and/or neutral parks, I would be tempted to stay with Judge at 1b, for his D and good hitting/OBP.

Sorry, posted in kind of a rush this morning.

Right now, Judge is leading off, so if I dumped him I'd need to replace him with OBP. I don't have much lefty power besides Yaz so McCovey would leave me kind of exposed.

(that being said, I'm rather intrigued by the idea of dumping McCovey for Gwynn on the waiver wire in this park...)

I've got Met '65, Baker Bowl '15, and the '86 Astrodome in my division.

Overall though this is the kind of team I wanted to put together so I'm not looking to do anything too drastic.
