Great historical info on some All-Time Greats!

All,

There was an article in the local paper about this website and I thought I would share it with you. It has a lot of really cool stories and background data on players that have passed away. Check it out, I think its a neat site to put some human stories behind the stats we deal with all the time.

I know he isnt in the ATG II cardset, but he has a killer Netplay HOF card:

Ed Delahanty died falling down Niagara Falls at the age of 35.

Unreal.

Thanks Major, a very interesting venue. Don Hoak had a heart attack chasing his brother-in-laws stolen car,Eddie Gaddell heart failure after getting mugged. I was also totally unaware that Ron Luciano commited suicide. A truly interesting site.

Interesting stuff, but just lightly perusing it, I caught what has to be a mistake. It says Dizzy Dean died at the age of 64 in 1994. That meant he was born in 1930. Which means his performance for the 34 Cardinals, at the ripe old age of 4, was REALLY remarkable!

Great Catch

Postby GREGGZILIANI » Thu Jul 06, 2006 10:54 am

Modmark,

Great catch. After a little research, it looks like a typo on the website. He actually died at age 64 in 1974 of a heart attack. I sent an email to the guy who runs the site (according to the contact us page he gratefully accepts corrections). I will let you know if and how he responds.

A minor mistake in the baseball card gallery, too. Mark Belanger's card isn't from the 1968 Topps set. The one displayed is from the 1967 set.
