Griffith Help

If Oil Can Boyd is there, pick him up immediately, if not sooner, waste no more time reading this post, just pick him up ..............

Now, back to the post. You can easily get by with just Chick Gandil, I use him very often on my smallball teams. He will hit .275 - .300 every time with great defense and a few stolen bases thrown in for good measure. Just get a decent backup such as Leslie or Abstein. He's a hidden gem if you ask me.

Clarke is fine, but Keller is better and you definitely need one of the two guys because you are short on LH hitters.

FWIW ... I like the team, good combination of speed, defense, pitching, hitting and clutch hitting.

Good luck.

mediocrity

Postby Jablowmi » Sun Jul 09, 2006 2:52 pm

Sitting at 19-20, although not much has been unexpected. I'm not strong on O, particularly against RHP. My starters have been a little soft, but I suspect that will turn around. Question - in that I don't think I can compete the way I'm hitting (and going to hit RHP), would it be totally stupid to dump Brown or Cicotte/Dawson for Fred Norman/Dimaggio? I'd still have Pete and one of the big guys (Brown or Cicotte) plus Boyd and I'd still have a 1 in CF, but one who can hit RHP (and obviously LHP).

Now had you followed my initial advice, you wouldn't be in this predicament.

Thing is who on your lineup is gonna knock in runs? Nobody is even on pace to knock in 80 for the year.

After Wagner, Dawson is the closest thing you have to an rbi guy. He'd be the last guy I'd get rid of, although I do seem to recall recommending Dimaggio initially.

I'd lose Cicotte and pick up Roberts, given your division. Then I'd dump Gandil and get a first baseman that can knock in some runs. Keller's fine at leadoff. I'd be batting Honus 3rd, 4th or 5th on your team.

all we need is just a little patience.

petrosian, i hear ya on dimaggio - i'm a bad listener, ask my wife. i'll take a look at 1B, although Gandil is one of my better hitters!

thanks guys.
