Base runners and Big Arm guys

I have three questions I would love to hear opinions/knowledge about.

What is the effect of good baserunners.

Where is/or is there a significant difference? For instance, is there a bigger difference between a 14 and 15, as oppossed to a 13 and a 14.


Secondly, how much impact does having good outfiled arms have. It would seem having a good RF and CF arm would be nice, but is it THAT big a deal to have a LF Arm?

Finally, how do these two skills interact. Will a big arm completely negate a good runner?

Part of my problem is that, not having the board game, I'm not sure how this works or what it looks like. In other words, I'm having a hard time visualizing it.

Running speed comes into play on open ended singles and doubles (no stars after them) and some flyballs. The running number is the chance out of 20 that the runner will advance safely (with 20 always an out and a 1 always safe. You subtract the OF arm from the runners number. For ex: a 15 baserunner against an arm of -5 results in 10/20 or a 50% chance. Other variables apply, here's what I can remember: +2 for 2 outs, -2 if the runner was being held, first to third on a hit to rf is +2, but -2 if it was to lf. A flyball b? gives +2 I think, to the runner on third to tag up.
