Fenway '67 team question

Fenway '67 team question

Postby gamiam » Sun Jul 23, 2006 12:09 pm

I have the nagging feeling I just don't have enough OBP to win with this group. Brett and Henderson are out there, but the only place I see to free up much $$ is dropping Ruth, which hurts my OBP and dumps one of only two lefty bats. Can I pull this off with Power, Defense up the middle, and Schultz, or do I need more on-base?

Don't know how to see what's on the wire, but you might consider dropping Schultz for Giusti and then swapping Schoendist for Eddie Collins. Then look for someone at shortstop who can bunt and steal to bat in the two-hole. With Ruth Batting 3rd, that should up the OBP for your other boomers.

I;d keep Red Cut Schultz for Guisti Cut Thomas and Crosetti Try to get a Meusel type move Babe back to RF Hank to CF and use leftover money on best SS you can get Shoeless Joe also comes to mind 394 avg for my ring team at Fenway One real horse P would not hurt eithe I had 2 Young and Dean with Knepper and Cuellar Guisti was closer 48 saves Every time he blew one he made up for it big time

Yes, your OBP is quite low, here are your numbers:

OBP vs RH 0.373
SLG vs RH 0.438
OPS vs RH 0.811
HR Rate vs RH 5.1
BPHR vs RH 50

OBP vs LH 0.381
SLG vs LH 0.440
OPS vs LH 0.820
HR Rate vs LH 5.6
BPHR vs LH 48

Not sure I would want Aaron in CF or the Babe leading the league in IBBs.

Your biggest problem is a real lack of a leadoff hitter. Suggest:

1. Dump Schultz

2. Joe DiMag in CF

3. Selkirk in LF

4. Foxx at 1B

5. Redo pitching, Frock and Speer are good, pickup 3 4-day SPs, Winter is grand.

Batting order:

Selkirk
Foxx
Joe D
Eddie
Aaron
Freehan
Red
Cro

A bit RH, you could go with Brett at 1B, but this is pretty balanced, here are revised numbers:

OBP vs RH 0.412
SLG vs RH 0.445
OPS vs RH 0.857
HR Rate vs RH 4.3
BPHR vs RH 49

OBP vs LH 0.415
SLG vs LH 0.460
OPS vs LH 0.875
HR Rate vs LH 4.3
BPHR vs LH 46

Or just go for it and pickup Rogers at 2B and go bomber team.

Best of luck, sschu
