How many games have you played, what is your RPG, what is the strength of pitching you are facing, what types of parks are you playing in on the road, how many HRs per game?

Here are your card numbers:
OBP vs RH 0.430
SLG vs RH 0.490
OPS vs RH 0.920
HR Rate vs RH 5.7
BPHR vs RH 52
OBP vs LH 0.438
SLG vs LH 0.499
OPS vs LH 0.937
HR Rate vs LH 4.9
BPHR vs LH 52

For $66M one would expect a bit higher numbers.

Wild guesses:

- LH are hurting you
- HR rate is less than 1.7/game
- RPG is less than 6
- OBP is good, but SLG is low, about .475

Keller should always hit ahead of Morgan. More DPs, more of his OBP comes from walks, etc. The problem with your team is that all the RH power hitters are better vs. LH even though they all have less OBP than your LH and SH.

I'd consider putting Banks third, believe it or not, for lineup balance, ahead of Mantle. It's not ideal, but IMO you need to do something to keep HAL from killing you in the opposing bullpen.

Mike,

Thought I had seen this team before, I'm in the Central.

My last 6 or so slugger teams are really struggling, it seems everyone plays at pitcher parks these days, they have good staffs AND some decent OPS, hence it becomes difficult to win consistently with bomber teams. I have raised the bar somewhat, now targeting much higher numbers on my last 2 teams, no definitive results, it may be that this approach to winning, while fun, does not work as well.

That said, your team is on the low end of the scale for this approach. Your HR rate is decent, but it would be nce to be over 2 per game, your actual SLG needs to be in the 530 range and LHs are hurting you, so you have a few problems.

Sugestions:

Bando for Mathews
Do something with Murray, not sure what, maybe Minch/Johnson
Look at Gordon for Morgan

Your ERA is good, so you should be more competitive.

My .0001

Tough call vs LHP, since Mantle has good OBP and no power, but Keller and Morgan are good at 1-2.....
Lineup vs. LHP
CHANGE THIS LINEUP
Keller
Mantle
Morgan,
Banks
mathews
Alou
Murray
. Pitcher P

Or can Keller do the job lower?

Keller
Morgan
Mantle
Mathews
Banks
Alou
Murray
Carter

The more I look, the more I'd like Gordon on that team hitting lower. Morgan may be over priced on a slugging team. Love the bottom of the lineup for power.

If Murray goes, consider Roenicke as a Mincher parter if it fits.
Good luck!

Well, obviously chose Morgan for the obp....but has seriously underperformed!

Gordon is available, should i take him?

yes, sschu, I agree with your assesment that everyone seems to take pitching teams! I am somewhat of a non conformist tho, although I have played in many pitchers parks before (crosley and the stick have been my favs!), but it just seems that with so many going for the pitching, a hitting/slugging team should be successful!

Murray was a coin toss over Powell, I had never use eddie before, and wanted to try him...YIKES!! Have I ever been disappointed!

I've dropped Morgan for Gordon before, but that's a big in-season hit to take. With Keller leading off, you can hit Mantle and Banks in the 2 and 3 spot, flopping vs LH and RH .

It's tough to bite the bullet on that salary hit, but Morgan is stinking it up, for the price.

Good luck.
