Covington in LF?

I know he has no Defense, but I liked his offensive numbers for the price. Has anyone had any experience with him?
I play in alot of pitchers parks (Forbes, Olympic, candelstick, Griffith...)

Have used him many times, mostly with great success (for the price). Probably won't do great in a pitcher's park, I've used him in neutral or banger parks. Great bargain if you need cheap lefty power, but make sure you have an arm in cf or lf. He hasn't been hurt to often either. Hope that helps, good luck. :)

Covington ROCKS. I have used him 10-12 times and with one exception he always puts up big numbers. Of course, I have only used him in hitters parks. He has enough natural home runs that he shouldn't be hurt by the park that much. But the +3 arm will hurt if you are trying to play small ball.

Rice has way too many double plays to be used in ANY park, IMO.

I'm platooning Covington and Roenicke in LF, with Roenicke set as D replacement.

12 games into the season, not a good sample size:

IMO, Covington is one of the top 5 values in this game. He has natural HR's on both sides. He will hit 50+ in a HR park and would probably still hit 35+ in a pitchers.

It is tough to get a feel for how a LF4(+3) can hurt you without actually rolling the dice. But I can tell you that it is minimal - though there will be a little bad luck here and there at the wrong times. The LF arm doesn't come up much and I wouldn't worry at all unless you plan to play in Dunn with a left handed staff. Covington is listed as a 2R, but don't be afraid to play him against lefties, his chances are fine. Roenicke is great - especially against a lefty pitcher that hammers lefties. But against a righty starter, you will see HAL pinch hit for Covington against the first lefty reliever and then you'll have Roenicke batting against righty relievers in the late innings. If you are playing in a $100 mil league, you can afford another left handed hitter/outfielder to pinch hit for Roenicke in this situation. But with $ 80 mil and below, just play Covington full time. He should do ok in a pitcher's park, but if you can put together a more balanced team for a park like '59 CHN, you will be better off. Three seasons of Covington for me on balanced teams:

Even though he only had 25 HRs in that third season, he was still very productive. That team made it to the finals (though I was swept 4 straight).

I like what I see Never had Covington but starting tomorrow batting 5th behind Rosen Ruth and Hornsby in 27 Yankee S so this gives me hopes Have Becker for late innings
