Your advice needed on this Griffith '24 team

My ten-year-old nephew and I (he's the the Axi of Axi's Vendetta) put together this Griffith '24 team, our second try at ATGII. We have the first waiver pick so we can add another top pitcher (Hubbell?).

What else should we do? Doerr out, Gehringer in? Who do we get for LF? Is Felipe Alou a safe risk in a deadball park? What do we do for a bullpen? Will we have enough hitting?

The rest of our division is Fenway '86, Yankee '56, and Busch '87. Is it worth it to keep a BPHR hiter or two just for divisional road trips? The waiver is on Sunday, so we need your help on any of these questions.

I don't particularly like your SP, after Pete of course. I think you can do better for the money.

McLain, Koufax, Walters, Seaver, Hurst, Spahn, etc. are all better values in your park, if you post the FA SP list I can help.

Also, sometimes it's better just to use 5 day guys after Pete, I've done that before, there are some tremendous values there like Milliken, Hildebrant, Ceccerreli, etc.

Gehringer or Doran are better alternatives at 2b. If you want Gehringer, odds are it's gonna take that #1 waiver pick to get him. But, you could live with Doerr or pick up Doran with a later pick hopefully.

More importantly, Yount and Wagner are sitting on the FA wire and either one would be a huge improvement over Concepcion. Both would again have to be your #1 waiver pick.

Speaker, Judge and Gardner are good fits for a smallball team.

Luzinski obviously must go, plenty of options there including Rose, Al Smith, J. Moore, [b:56be25b47d]MUSIAL[/b:56be25b47d], Clarke, McCosky. Or you could move Alou to LF and pick up Clemente (just get a solid backup for when he's injured).

Agree with PBTR that your pitching could be better both starters and relievers. I'd recommend one solid $3-$4 Mill closer type and another value $2-$3 Mill setup man.

Also, Grote is not the guy for you, either pickup Dempsey or Gibson.

I'd seriously consider picking up:

Gehringer for Doerr
Gibson for Grote
Wagner for Concepcion
Musial/Stephenson/McCoskey/Haas/Clarke/Heathcote/Clemente for Luzinski

As far as priority on the waiver wire, I'd focus on Wagner and Gehringer. It's easy to find deadball outfielders and serviceable catchers.

For SPs, look at Brown/Pfiester/Camnitz/Pollet/ for your #2. Cy Young is okay, but all of the above are better in my opinion.
