A Perplexing team

Why is this team losing? I know that there must be a structural flaw, but I am blind to it.http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg2/team/team_other.html?user_id=70346

Not nearly enough power and other than Pfeister I do not like your pitching. They are higher dollar guys, but I have not seen any of them do well in ATG II on a consistent basis. Steinfeldt is a waste since you have Collins to leadoff. In my opinion, you need to average 2+ home runs a game in a park like Huntington.

Three measures of team performance I consider:

1. Bill James luck factor RS vs RA formula says you should have 2.6 more wins.

2. OBP * SLG * AB = RS. Historically actual RS should be about 5% less, you are about 30 runs behind, or 9% less.

3. Player underperformnce - you have some issues here, no one is really doing well except Shake n Bake. Your SPs, given its a $100M league and everyone can hit, might be about right, except Lemon.

Killer, Deron J, Belardi, Torre, Roenicke, Doby, Stargell, these are all inconsistent guys IMHO, you seem to be getting the inconsistent side with this team.

I would make some moves, if I read it right (and I might not be) Simmons and Hughson are on the wire, Stargell, Lemon and someone else should go and pick these guys up.

It is possible they are underpowered, if only because I spent so much money on starters. Teams in banger parks which are successful often have rotations with guys all less than 1 million price tags in the starting rotation, it seems, with the cash then poured into the offense. Obviously, I tried to have a more balanced team, with poor results. Regarding the track records of the starters, I have had good seasons from all of them, Lemon and Mullin included, in the past. I could dump them, but as I count their on base chances on their cards, it seems to me that they should do OK.It seems to me that when I have dumped such people for poor performance, it was no more likely that their replacements would do well than if I just ride it out, and let them get it together. Not the case if I choose unwisely, however. I recall one time, in a newbie blunder, I selected Drysdale to pitch in Fenway 67. Many homers and losses later, I swapped him out and his replacement did better. I do not see any of my big 4 as unsuitable in any park, although it seems they not good enough to carry me on this team.

An update. I pretty much stood pat, and they have been crawling up from the primordial ooze. I dumped Bob Lemon and added Stephenson, the biggest change. I just had SO much confidence in Drucke , Hallahan and Byrne to handle the 4 spot in the rotation. Pardon me while I purge.

Actually, this team is still screwed up. Stephenson and Stargell can both only play left, which means Killebrew or a first baseman or Steinfeldt is wasted when all are healthy. Fortunately{?} this is rarely the case. Except mright now with Doby out I have to move McBride to cemter, or Kuntz, and none of the rest can play right. Hmmmm. I will have to cogitate on this.

I feel practically Kriff like! I dumped Stephenson for Felipe....Nevdully will be so proud of me. I squeezed some cash out of Steinfeldt for the Penguin, whom I have never used before. Good old Felipe. He can play all outfield positions. Suck on that, HAL. Now if I could just get rid of Gonzalez. I swear he is bad luck. Whenever I take him as a back up, my starter ends up on the DL, and I have to go into the playoffs with Gonzo as my catcher.

Incidentally, I did think about just moving Harmon to third, but then HAL would injure him, and I would have a different hole in the dike.
