A DESPERATE CRY FOR LINEUP HELP ... BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

This team can't hit it's way out of a paper bag. I know it's a pitching heavy team, but take a look at the lefty/righty splits:

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/baseball/stratomatic/atg2/team/team_other.html?user_id=101292&stats=splits

For God's sake, FRANK WHITE IS OUTHITTING CECIL COOPER AGAINST RIGHT HANDED PITCHERS AND ROBERTO CLEMENTE AGAINST LEFT HANDED PITCHERS ...........

Here's how I'm batting them, [b:e8fad63340]any suggestions???[/b:e8fad63340]

Lineup vs. LHP

1. Flood, Curt (R) CF
2. Smith, Ozzie (S) SS
3. Simmons, Al (R) inj LF
4. Clemente, Roberto (R) RF
5. Gardner, Larry (L) 3B
6. White, Frank (R) 2B
7. Cooper, Cecil (L) 1B
8. Dempsey, Rick (R) C
9. Pitcher P

Lineup vs. RHP

1. Smith, Ozzie (S) SS
2. Flood, Curt (R) CF
3. Simmons, Al (R) inj LF
4. Cooper, Cecil (L) 1B
5. Clemente, Roberto (R) RF

There's just not enough OBP at the top to generate runs. Flood vs RH, and especially Ozzie vs LH, are low OBP options for the #2 slot. Versus lefties, I might consider Clemente in the #2 hitter. And, as blasphemous as this might sound to your theme, I might consider downgrading Clemens to get a legit #2. Considering that your second best hitter Cooper is being dominated by the 40% lefties you face, another OBP hitter will really help Simmons drive in some runs.

I would consider batting White #2 vs LHs, set to bunt. Clemente 3rd and Simmons 4th. Vs RHs, maybe Clemente in the two hole. I have a team, at the same stage of the season, with some of the same players, hitting equally woeful. What I counciled myself is patience, as it's still early in the season. Those averages are bound to climb up. After game 40 or 50, if you are still experiencing poor results, a couple of changes may be in order. Good luck.

i dont think you should bat clemente #2 because he is a double play waiting to happen. if you look at his card, he will hit into dp's 34% of the time on his card. ozzie is a good #2 if your'e leadoff guy can steal bases but flood doesn't fit the bill.

with your line up, i think you lead off ozzie with flood batting second because ozzie is as good as flood, can steal bases and allow you to utilize floods bunt more and hit and run more settings and, with ozzie being held, you will increase your OBP 6%. flood will only hit into DP's .02% of the time. he is the hardest player to double up whereas ozzie will hit into DP's 14% of the time. this will allow you to keep people on base more often for simmons (when healthy) & clemente.

also, i would flip flop cooper and white vs. leftirs because cooper is still better and wont get walked to face dempsey. other than that, just be patient because the numbers all even out in the end.

good luck

Clearly you have some underperformers, but your lineup numbers are not especially good:

OBP vs RH 0.360
SLG vs RH 0.432
OPS vs RH 0.792
HR Rate vs RH 2.1
BPHR vs RH 17
OBP vs LH 0.343
SLG vs LH 0.427
OPS vs LH 0.770
HR Rate vs LH 2.3
BPHR vs LH 23

Your average team speed is only 14.1, your only SB threat is Ozzie. My guess is you will have trouble scoring runs consistently for the entire season.

But it is a pitching and defense team, is it not? :)

I still see your pain and would still do that deal with you Coach . Hernandez is hitting better than Coop . I need the stick in my lineup instead of the OBP .

Hernandez would help. Also would like to see another right handed bat though. Keep in mind: My teams have rarely done well for quite some time :(
