My first try at an extreme pitchers park. I got Cobb, Joe Jackson, Fox & Cochrane in the draft so I figure I have the makings of a good offense.

Is Ripper Collins a good choice @ 1b?

I know I need a pitching staff. I figure BP/HR pitchers will be a good value in my home park, correct? I have a couple of players I have in mind for staff ace(s) and will target in the waivers draft. Any pitchers who historically do well in Forbes?

I have Cobb set in RF & Jackson in LF. Their arms are AVG. so is it imperative that I get a cannon out there in CF?

The league breakdown is 5 pitchers parks, 3 neutral & 4 hitters (2 which are Dunn).

Johnny, this is just my opinion, but if you are going to be playing half your games in Forbes, you can get a lot better values offensively. You could easily dump Schmidt, Cochrane, Ripper and Gorman. I would take MUCH of those dollars and invest in some high quality pitching. You are playing in a pitcher's park, you might as well take advantage of that strength. Cobb, Jackson, and Fox are a great core to build a Forbes team around. I think that having a masher in a pitchers park is a waste, but others will differ with my opinion.

Good arms in the OF are very helpful, but concentrate them in RF and CF. (LF is kind of a wash). Some of my favorite bargains in the outfield: Clemente, Snodgrass, Devore and there are a bunch of others. Think SPEED/OBP/BA type guys that are going to generate offense. Homers are tough to come by in Forbes, so dont waste those precious dollars chasing the natural longball.

Pitching, pitching, and more pitching is really key to having a highly successful Forbes team. Get yourself a high-quality staff for Forbes. Remember, if you can hold a team to 2 runs or less you arent going to NEED a lot of offense.

Sam Crawford, Joe Judge are good choices for 1b. Don't know who's on the wire, but Agee usually is, and he's solid in CF.

To me Schmidt and Ripper could go . There are players in those positions who can do a better job at your park . Judge would be a good one as meantioned before . You need some pitching . Looks like your playing at a bomber park with that staff .

You are obviously in waivers, so based on where you pick I would prioritize something to the effect of:

Thanks for the sound advice though I have a few questions. Why would I take Carter over Cochrane? They have similar defensive abilities though Carter is a better power hitter. He's slanted to the left on which side he has two BPHRS which do me no good in my park anyway. Cochrane appears to be a more consistent hitter from both sides. It would seem that if i'm going to take a power hitter it would at least be a hitter with natural HR's and some BPHR's to take advantage of the Dunn park and Baker Field in my division. I did some calculating and found that I will play 2/3 of my games (home & away) in "pitcher's parks" some it would be best to have a small ball style team, however, should I at least get one or two power bats in there somehow? Even chaepie ones?

I'm no expert here, but the way I understand it is that in a small ball park, you want as much D and speed as possible. By getting Carter you almost assure that others can't run on you. You take away that weapon from your opponents. As for power, Carter has more non-ballpark dependant HRs on his card than any catcher with similar defense except maybe Campenella. To top it off, he had over 600 plate appearences, meaning he can only go down for a max of 3 games. That's a great feature that you won't find on most other catchers. Great value for the money.

UVM explained it perfectly for me. Carter is the best defensive catcher, great power (even in Forbes) and will only get hurt for 3 games max at a time. I would think it is safe to say that Carter is the #1 choice of people who play in Forbes or Griffiths.
