Batting Order Ideas

Batting Order Ideas

Playing in Royals 80, the team has a number of jack-rabbits, looking for batting order input

vs RH
Wagner (08)
Ichi
Cobb (12)
Duffy
Sisler (20)
Heilmann
Lajoie
Frisch - 3B
Sanguillen

vs LH
Wagner (08)
Ichi
Cobb (12)
Duffy
Heilmann
Lajoie
Sisler (20)
Frisch
Sanguillen

For all you Forbes 57 guys, where do you hit Sisler usually?

Sisler's negative clutch in the 5 hole is worrisome.

Move Wagner down and Sisler up?

Still working on the pitching. :-)

i usually bat him 3rd.

i would probably drop an outfielder and pick up either j.sewell, cheap carew or r. thomas to DH and upgrade your pitching.

That is a nice looking team. I like Cobb batting 3rd in Royals 1980. Have you used that Hugh Duffy card before? I am interested in how successful people have been using that historic season.

Duffy and Wagner is a lot of cap in 2 guys, but I cannot give up Duffy as he seems to be really putting up some numbers.

Will probably move Cobb to RF and pickup Carew/Kreevich as DH.

Pitching? What's that? :-)

Steve, thanks for your input.

I love to build hitting teams with little pitching, but that seldom works. Here is what I have:

Vs RH/LH
Jimmie Wilson
Sisler (cheaper one)
Lajoie (600AB one)
Frisch
Wagner (09 one)
Heilmann
Duffy
Cobb
Carew/Kreevich

SPs
Sutton
Sutcliffe
SP around $4M
Zahn or Vuck

RPs
Brandon
Hank Robinson
Clear
Shirley
Mopper

Average speed almost 16, range 12, errors 104, +.476 OBP and over 1.000 OPS both sides.

OF arms are weak, and Wagner & Cobb injury risk, these are the only short comings it seems, OF arms are 0 -2 0.

that version of carew is also a 15 game inj guy.

and why are you sitting on 13 mil?

the higher priced sadeki should of been your number 4.

I agree with others that say you need to add pitching. It just seems that small-ball teams need stronger pitching to survive.

The roster is not finalized, so my cap space is very high, but will not be so at the end. Note Sutton and Frisch are the cheapie versions.

The $2.88 Carew has good DD actuals, and the cap space is more important. Thomas is also an option, but I prefer Carew's hits over Thomas's walks, especially from the 8 hole.

I can make Sadecki the 3rd SP, good suggestion.

I may be short pitching, options for cap space are really Duffy or Frisch. I like both in this park, so that will be tough.

Appreciate all the opinions!

the cheaper versions of covelski and camnitz have pitched well for me in this park.

usually in this park i try to build my rotation as such
SP: 9 mil range
SP: 6/7 mil range
SP: 5/6 mil range
SP: 3/4 mil range

you could also sell brandom for a little more cash as well and if you are going cheap at 3B why not use weaver or gardner?

if like carew for his bat at least upgrade him to one of his 4 mil range cards.
