Live Draft Using Diamond Dope?

Postby sschu » Fri May 11, 2012 9:29 pm

Anyone every done one, does it work? Maybe a 60 second time? $200M cap? Is it setup for current player pool?

Interest?

I'm always up for a live draft. DD is setup for all the current players. A quick clock probably isn't that good because it can sometimes load slowly. I would suggest something like a three hour clock. As long as people are being responsible and loading proxies or checking in very regularly throughout the day, you can knock out a draft in a few days.

On the plus side, diamond dope drafts are highly customizable. You can change time intervals and number of rounds. and even include stadium in the draft if you wish.

However, the main problem with diamond dope is that you have to constantly refresh the screen. The information on the screen will not update unless you refresh.

Not really a huge problem, but I would suggest factoring that into your draft. You may want to consider 2minute intervals or more due to this.

And you can do whatever caps you want unlike the live draft apps here. I've done several 140m and 200m and they really are enjoyable. Would love to do more.

If you are ok with a slower draft, it is awesome(although when it's slow to refresh it can be annoying).

I think a 2 minute, $200M 20 round draft might be fun. I know DD can be slow on Live drafts, I prefer t get it done in a single evening.

Sschu, did several quite a while back. To simulate live drafts, 200 went well. Found out what worked best was a short clock, so folks have to be there, and maybe 10 to 14 rounds to still have time for teams to get loaded into league in one night. Definitely a longer commitment than a "normal" live draft but it can work.

Your options for clock time are:

No clock, 2min, 5min, 15min, 30min, 1hr, 2hr, 3hr, 6hr, 12hr & 24hr.

I would be interested in a DD draft depending on number of rounds and cap size.

I would prefer 12-14 rounds and 140m cap. also unique stadium.

Before the Live Draft app on SOM, we were doing these on a regular basis for a while. We would fill before midnight & I believe frenzy after midnight once the teams were loaded.

Refreshing is the only downside, and no chat but thats justs for grins. 90 or 120 secs would be my preference as some people will not be as familiar with the site.

The only fly in the ointment is that you have run a randomizer using some web site, but those are not hard to do.

I took part in the Moriarity leagues while LIVE was temporarily out
of commision and the DD features were quite good. The league
thread essentially replaced the chat. 2 minutes, $200 mill or $140 mill.

Even though the 14 rounds + unique stadium worked well for those
drafts, I think Sschu's idea of 20 rounds makes more sense with
the deeper draft pool, especially wrt all the new closers that weren't
available before. Make time, IMHO, those extra rounds count a lot
more than they used to.
