60 million dollar theme league

60 million dollar theme league

Postby lanier64 » Thu May 17, 2012 5:23 pm

I was thinking of starting a 60M league where you could have one pitcher and one position player of unlimited value but everyone else would have to be under 3 million. Just exploring the interest level. I'll set the league up tomorrow if there seems to be enough interest. If not I'll just do a 60M league with no restriction.

I'd be interested in that, especially if we have a draft for those two players.

I probably won't want to start any new teams until after "the big move" in a few weeks.

Well I have never participated in a live draft , believe it or not, but I would be willing to give it a try if someone can give me some pointers on the process. Also I forgot about the "Big Move" you're right AeroDave we will put it on the back burner until after the June 4th switch over.

I'm game. We did one a couple years ago with similar parameters (I think it was 3 players at any price, and everyone else under $2 million), which was a lot of fun. We can set up a separate draft thread in the ILC.

One suggestion -- in addition to drafting the two "unlimited" players, we could also draft two of the "budget" players. Instead of a true serpertine draft, however, which would allow the team with the top overall pick to also have the top pick of the <$3M players, we would reverse the order at that point, so it would look like:

Round 1 -1-12
Round 2 -12-1
Round 3- 12-1
Round 4- 1-12

Just an idea.

Sounds like a good idea Dukie98 but as I said I am a real novice when it comes to live drafts. What is an ILC?

ILC = individual league chat

sounds interesting...similar to a "2 princes league" I was in once before. That was great fun.

Would the 2 top stars be fixed all season, or could you swap if you want?

I think an autodraft would be fine, but a live draft might work.
If it goes that way, a time saver might be to go -

Round 1 - any $ hitter 1-12
Round 2 (pick 2) any $ pitcher AND any under $3 mil player 12-1
Round 3 - any under $3 mil player 1-12

4 picks, 3 rounds, then autodraft

8-)

I was also in the "two princes" league, also a couple of "studs and duds" leagues, they are great fun. I'm in!!!

All we did in the other leagues was name (or assign) the studs on ILC and then list the rest in an auto-draft.

The "two princes" league sounds familiar. Theme was a new owner signed one stud pitcher and one stud hitter, and then gave you a pttance of a payroll to fill out the remaining 23 players. If I remember correctly, the studs were assugned as follows: The highest-priced hitter with the 12th highest-priced pitcher; the second highest hitter with the 11th highest pitcher and so on until the 12th highest hitter with the highest-priced pitcher. The pairings were randomly assigned, followed by the auto draft. Think I ended up with Bonds and Mathewson. League was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot about players I had never used. I'd be interested in trying a similar league again.
