Which players scare you the most?

Which players scare you the most?

I was thinking since I usually have a 5 or 6 man rotation and have to set the starters per game which players influence me the most whether I use a righty or a lefty....In order...
Players that insure or more likely a RHSP will be used
1. G. Carter
2. E. Valentine
3. W. Mays
4. D. Ennis
5. E. Banks
6. Dawson

PLayers that insure or more likely a LHSP will be used
1. M. Mantle
2. G. Brett
3. W. McCovey
4. W. Stargell
5. C. Cooper
6. L. Gehrig

Less players scare me, but they are all on your list:

Players that insure or more likely a RHSP will be used
1. G. Carter
2. D. Ennis
3. E. Banks
4. A. Dawson

Players that insure or more likely a LHSP will be used
1. G. Brett
3. W. McCovey
4. C. Cooper
5. L. Gehrig
6. J. Morgan

As for Valentine, he does not scare me against LHP. I actually
think he does more damage against RHP. As for Stargell, he
doesn't scare me at all for some reason...As for Mays and and
Mantle, they scare me no matter what; Babe Ruth, A. Simmons,
H. Greenburg and others fall into this category as well.

It's not so much a matter of being scared but more a matter of are they great one way and much weaker the other.

Banks, Carter, Dawson are strong arguments for righthanded pitchers.

Similarly Brett, Gehrig, Mantle and Stargell argue for lefties.

Mays I don't worry about as he kills you both ways.

bcp7 LOL ! Try the top 50 scares me ! :D

None of them scare me ! (puffin chest out ) I go by my opponants overall BA and OBP . Willie may be hittting Hr's but the rest of the team is hitting RHP lets say .297 - .365 . LH they are .245-301 . I'll try to stop the team , not the one man .

Mantle once singlehandedly knocked me out of a semi-final; should have gone with Hubbell in games 1 and 5 instead of Clemens.

As for Valentine, a special case; he's got a ton of OBP against righties and more pure extra base hits against lefties than any other player. I try to get him as much as I can.

Frank Bailey and Petrosian
Just finished a league where I was stuck with those two in my division. I got scared, only won 94 games and finished a distant 3rd. :(

Frank Bailey and Petrosian are number 2 and 3 in terms of Championships and points in the ATG2 standings. Nevdully's is number 1.

I am in a division right now with a combined 81 championships, and there are a total of 152 championships in the league. I don't think it gets much tougher than that in a random league.

I stopped playing in autoleagues because the competition was too tough. Frank, Petro and Nev were always all in my division. :)
