One of the major reasons for my success in ATG I was W. Johnson but he has not been the same "for me" in ATG II. Here's a team that's ready to go at the Astrodome with divisional parks at Dodger '77, Griffith '24 and Astrodome '86......

The list of available RH* is Garcia, Ames, Walters, Lemon, Dinneen, Maddox, Willis, Summers, Mullin, Willett, and Ruffing....Thoughts and ideas always aprreciated.....Bobby

Johnson is better than the options mentioned, there is likley not other upgrade that would offset a move to an Ames. Your team in the field is good, so an RP upgrade would be a target.

If there are any more expensive SPs available, that is what I would be looking at.

I would also wait for a better starter than the options that are there. With more and more people playing small ball, I have noticed less and less $10+m pitchers on the wire these days. If no higher priced pitcher shows on the wire, maybe cheaper like Liefield, Dean, Lonborg or W.Ford.

If you handed this team to me and said, "go for it," I would drop Nelson and Baumgartner for Taylor and Fosnow. I would upgrade Schalk to O'Neill and I would upgrade Carlton to Derringer.

The reason for Mr Johnson's less impressive performance is ATGII is the S7 rating. Because of increased fatigue and he is not as durable and is a drag on the bullpen, so I no longer use him, the same holds for Red Ames who I used quite a bit in ATGI with success but no more. Looking at your team I would add Pollet so you will have a lefty starter.

As you have another Astrodome and Griffith in your divison I think you are best off without too many unbalanced hitters as there is no advantage to them in this division. However, I know you like to score runs so I think the switch to make is Johnny Evers at 2nd base and Joe Dimaggio in CF. That gives you one lefty batter in each 1/3 Cobb 1st Meusel 2nd Dimaggio 3rd Yount 4th Judge 5th Evers 7th With Collins 6th in front of Evers with the slow footed O'neil eighth you would get the most out your lineup [however I would switch O'Neil for George Gibson (He is an "N" and his 14 speed is helpful) and use the money to upgrade the bullpen.]

Perronowski would make a great lefty setup man for you with Gehrig in your division and Moriarty the team to beat with the good small ball team and good left handed hitting. Gene Nelson in this division would also be very good!

Finally for defensive substituitions I would go for Salazar as my righty and Collins as my lefty, when someone is hurt and you have a small ball team let your pitchers have achance to win the game for you a .260 BA never compensates for the loss of defense from what I have seen.

Good luck

[b:496617e08f]Howie Pollet[/size:496617e08f][/color:496617e08f][/b:496617e08f]

If you don't pick him up immediately, I'll eat cans!

I'd also consider using Dave Philley as a defensive replacement for Cobb. He can hit okay too, always does for me.

Howie Pollet is about the most reliable sub 10m pitcher out there. I can't explain why, I'll let Charles do that, but the guy is money.
