Las Vegas finals

Postby DAVIDHALL » Sun Jun 25, 2006 11:02 pm

Some random thoughts as I sit here in the airport as reality starts to set in once again:

Hack - By next year we expect you to have Adrian trained in the fine art of tipping waitresses.

And it's not Lou Gehrig, it's Lou f***ing Gehrig. Dave Dravecky treasure the ball from the time he held Lou to a single as you annihilated me in the semis.

Seriously, congrats. That was one powerhouse team you built.

Mere words seem inadequate here, but a big thanks to Bobby for making this all possibly once again. What an AWESOME event he put on once again.

Also a huge thanks to Adrian for all the hard work he put in on the technical side, things couldn't have went any smoother. Great job, AG!!! :D :D :D

Yes, a thousand thanks to Bobby for making this very special and for being a generous host...the best ever!....and many, many thanks to Adrian for an extremely smooth-running, well-thought out computer/IT plan. :D

- I echo those thanks to Bobby and Boni for being gracious and generous hosts for our rag-tag bunch against this year.
- Thanks to Adrian for teching it up, so all I had to know was how to click a mouse and how to surrender leads in 5 consecutive games
- Thanks to everyone who brought a laptop
- Thanks to Scot for providing spiritual guidance on the proper timing of when to gamble on Sunday
- And, thanks to Bobby for putting in a call to the South Coast to have them loosen up the crap tables for lil' ol me. The only thing better than a trip to Vegas with 16 of your closest Strat buddies is a free trip to Vegas with 16 of your closest Strat buddies. :D

Thanks, to Adrian for all the work you put in to get this set up, this format was a lot of fun. :D

Congrats!!! to Hack on a dominating performance the 1-2-3-4 of Riggs,
Bando, Gehrig & Campy were just too much. (even for the mighty Peckingpaugh!!!)

To all of the Strat players and their significant others it was great meeting all of you who were new to the event and great to see the familiar faces from previous the Vegas outings. :D :D :D

I would like to add to the list of thanks for Bobby and Boni for being gracious hosts and putting up with all of us once again. Bobby, didn't you learn your lesson last year???

Once again we were able to live large thanks to Bobby's generosity, and enjoy the actual event due to his enthusiasm and humor.

Thanks to Adrian who not only provided the technical expertise to the endeavor, but put up with a bunch of poker players in his room to all hours. Glad you were able to go out on a winning note.

Congratulations to Hack for not only winning the tourney, but doing it with grace and humility.

You bas*ard.

Congrats to Adrain to getting to the finals with Hack, despite the continued suspicions of the group that the tech guy was winning. All in fun, of course.

Also, congrats to Frank Bailey for his 1st loser title, won in six games over Munich Man in the consolation bracket.

Some of the fondest memories I can still remember:

1 ) meeting more of my Strat bretheren
2 ) bloody mary's at 8am
3 ) Bobby's hero of the day, Donnie ***in' Bush
4 ) Peckinpaugh grand slam off his own card against Hack
5 ) Franny staying at the poker table despite a severe case of what was likely alcohol poisining
6 ) *********** being so drunk that ********** their ********* in the ******* [details removed by the "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas"" committee]
7 ) See 6
8 ) Chatting with the women connected to our gang of strat geeks to see if I could figure out what recessive gene would make them hang around us
9 ) Being dragged out of my room Sunday by Munich Man and his gang to go out and see Vegas instead of sleeping. "You don't need sleep - you can always sleep on the plane"

Now I'm back at my desk at work, wishing I had a damn beer. And wishing I was still there.

I would also like to thank our hosts Bobby & Boni for their gracious hospitality. To Adrian for all his hard work in setting everything. To Rube for his assistance. To the pleasure of putting faces with the names on the boards and getting to know those that are consistently whipping me. BTW a curses to Ace for building up my hopes by allowing me to get a 3-1 lead in games with 3Finger, Sandy and King Carl pitching the next 3 and losing all 3 in 1 run games.

All I can say is WOW. What a great time, What a great group of people, and What great hosts Bobby and Boni are.
Thanks to Adrian for all of his hard work. I am still pissed about game 7!!!!! :D That ball was hit too slowly to be a double play.
Big Thanks to Bobby and Boni for providing lots of delicious food and plenty of refreshments. You are the best!
Bobby, Sorry about knocking you out in game 7 of our series. That was a crushing way to lose a game.
Thanks to Christina, Evelyn and Sue for being shopping and sight seeing pals for Maria. She had a great time with you all.
Thanks to Munich Man, Mrs. Munich Man, Munich Man's sister and Rube for taking us out on the Strip Sunday night.
It was great to see everyone who was there. It is great to be able to put faces to the names. Take it easy on my teams and I hope to see you again in the future.

Thanks again Bobby!!!!!!!
You throw a great party!!!!!! :D
Best Wishes to you all.

If there are photos and someone e-mails them to me, I will be glad to host them on moose's web site.

But I'm more interested in getting in touch with Munich Man if anyone knows if he is still around. MM - you have a PM.
