Ethics Question

What we decided was that he told me the kind of team he wanted to build. I gave him info on ballparks that match that style and at least 5-6 recommendations for each fielding position. I am letting him pick his pitching on his own. I will not give him overt help on waivers, but rather general info and distilled wisdom. (If I have any of the later!) thanks for all your comments.

Oh stop being so frigging sensitive! :)

OF COURSE you should help him with his draft card, his manager strategy, his line-ups, his bullpen set-up, and anything else he asks about. Who do you care more about, the other people in the league or your own kin?

Just as long as you don't intentionally dump games against him or something stupid like that, everybody in the league should understand if you spell it out for them beforehand.

I think it would be fine. I would have no problem playing in that league. I can't wait until my sons are old enough to teach them

Well, I'm not the "Old Geezer" for nothing. My youngest son is 15, my oldest child is 29 and it is her husband I have hooked. So far I have given him 2 of my credits (I'm not about to take bread out of the mouth of my daughter and grandchildren!). Maybe I'll buy him a 5 pack at some point, and let him see if he can make it to some finals and get some extra credits himself! Its funny, but neither of my two sons seems that interested and neither one wants to play SOM, whether CD, boardgame, or ATGII. My son-in-law is a jock, though, and loves baseball almost as much as me! All I can say is, my daughter knows how to pick 'em!

No problem whatsoever. I have played with MY son in several leagues, and have followed the same parameters. We disclose the relationship up front, never trade, nor do we pick up players the other has dropped. And, I have also given him general advice, usually when asked, mostly ignored! :) Have fun. :)

My 12 year old nephew, now on his 3rd season absolutely refuses help, its his team! He started really well in his second season, won 11 in a row out of the gate, cooled off but won his division. He loves Don Sutton and Harmon Killebrew at Baker, no sense even trying to reason with him, he knows best .... like most 12 year olds.

This last season he did OK, but lost 13 in a row in the last week and faded badly to his friend who is matched up against OT in the Semis! OT kind of abused him last night......

Lots of fun!

Disclosure is the way to go. I think it's great you're passing on your addiction to your next of kin...

I see you mention your daughter's age, so the SIL is over 21.

That's important as you lure him into this world of Strat....there are strict rules in some states regarding Contributing to the Deliquency of a Minor

My brother is in the military, and prior to his promotion to Lt. Col., he was a major. Does that mean that I could potentially contribute to the delinquency of a major and a minor?
