Build Your Team?

It is not quite a whole team building question, but I would love your opinion on whom to use on my Cath prep Oval team of all negro leaguers at 2b.

candidates on my list include = Tubby Scales, HR Johnson, Bill Monroe, Sammy Hughes, Dandridge (really only for the glove and low injury chance), Pop Lloyd, Jud Wilson (not seriously, but if I didn't need fielding)

rest of lineup (no particular order)
Josh Gibson C, Wells SS, Stearns LF, Charleston CF, Chino Smith RF, Beckwith 3b, Suttles 1b

pitching rotation (Pitcher bats 9th)
Paige, Manning, Winters, Matlock
ace reliever - Slim Jones
RH closer - Smokey Joe Williams
LH Closer - John Donaldson
(had to take 3 non NeL schlumps as pure relievers to meet league requirements...but hope they are never used)

Well jumping into the middle of a draft card, on a theme team isn't what I'm used to but given your lineup I'd probably narrow your choice to Lloyd, although I've rarely had success with him, others seem to love him. And Johnson, whom I've usually done well with....If money is not an issue I'd go Lloyd at the top and hope he hits his card vs righties, because you've got lefty pitchers covered.

Guys 3 for 3 so far in requests already that are all post draft and theme leagues...not quite what I had in mind ;)

Here is a predraft one (I've got a credit left to use)

$100 million. (could be $80 or $140 if you find that easier)
DH league (not critical).
Wrigley '41 (Petco '05, Schorling NeL, Braves '41 or Griffith '41 would work for me too)

I love pitching and defense

Favorite players to consider (Slim Jones, Ozzie Smith)...but don't feel limited in any way to pick my favorites.

looking forward to seeing what you come up with
(a draft strategy to actually get the guys suggested might help also)
