I've never heard of a cd rom. Do they still sell them? How are they different than the online version of the game?

Can you provide a link to the cd version of the game? Thanks

[quote:d1a21286ff="Valen"]My machine is a Vista machine. I plan on building a Win7 or Win2008 machine some time this fall. That means I will have to play the authorization removal game. :(

Now a queston for those who already have it.

I have the CD now. It is installed.

When I click to install rosters for every season there is ...

All Star Game
Deluxe Season Rosters,*PHC*
and
Deluxe Season Rosters, Setup for AS PLAYED,*PHC*
except for the 1876-1899 seasons which are all ...
Season Rosters, AS PLAYED,*PHC*
World Series

What is the difference? Which should I be installing?[/quote:d1a21286ff]

Baseball Mogul is a baseball sim game. It has all player stats for the last 100+ years. Pick the stadium you want, players or teams. Sign your player to contracts. There is also a player mode so you can actually watch an individual game or play if you want, instead of simming the season. You also have control over players stats & abilities if you want to edit their performances.

You can play off CD Rom or download the game. There is usually a free demo on the sportsmogul website.

The game usually costs $20 to $30 depending on how close they are to releasing a new version. For the cost of 1 SOM credit, you can't really go wrong on this.

I won't say it's better or worse than SOM, it's just a matter of taste. I used to play it a lot until I came across SOM. I will probably go back to it since I have no credits left & do not plan to buy any any time soon.

My initial impression

Not as easy to use as the original computer game. But then guess everything gets more complicated as features get added. I will adjust.

The card image does not have the BALance ratings, disappointing.

After installing a season you have to touch some team to get it to ask for the activation code. Would be nice if it just asked for that at time of install.

Looking at the 1974 Lou Brock. Stealing AAA, *3-7/- (20-16). Would kill for that card in online. Very disappoining that the card image does not list the number of stolen bases and caught stealing. I know those stats were kept in 1974 and readily available so this is very disappointing. No way he was a 4 defender that your though.

All the Negro League players are divided up in to 4 teams, detroit, KC, Pittsburgh, and Washington. But there are 12 parks.

When you think about it shouldn't they have generated enough players to fill a team for all 12 of those parks/cities?

Valen, the balance ratings are found in the window with all the stats listed for each player...

BATTER AB DO TR HR RBI AVG BB SO SB CS OB% SL% OB+SL
G.Hodges 579 23 5 42 130 .304 74 84 3 3 .384 .579 .963

YEAR TM PWR B BAL Vsl BNT H&R STL RUN DP CLAv FIELDING OF CA
1954 BRN N/N R [b:f682ef3c92] 2L[/b:f682ef3c92] 12% A D D 13 29 .313 1B1e7

i put the rating in bold for Hodges

For the CD rom game I'm hoping that sometime in the near future we will be able to just download each new season purchased from a link posted to our email...instead of waiting on the snail mail for the card with the code activation number for each individual season...Diamond Mine baseball uses links for season purchases...just click link after purchase and season is downloaded to your computer...

88-19 stolen bases
Ratings *2-5,8-10-12/- (18-1)

So unless you roll 5,7, or 11 you are getting a good jump. Would you mark this guy as steal more and use on a team where you are going for stolen bases.

Someone will ask and unfortunately his defense is RF-4(+1)e21
