You'll never get HAL to manage the game your way. Better to understand HAL's way and then draft and manage accordingly.

I am going through the learning process now. That is why I asked a few questions. The last time I played Sporting News version of SOM the controls were different than they are now.

BTW, I don't know what the fatigue rating of your specialist was, but it's best if he's R1 (and has "quick hook" and the appropriate "avoid" setting, natch.) Fatigue rating is a huge factor in whom HAL decides to use. Trying to get him to use a R4 less than a R2 -- or the opposite -- is really swimming against the tide.
