Unsolicited Accelerated Start Date

Postby Badjam » Mon May 14, 2012 7:12 pm

I have been in probably twenty or more leagues that requested to move the start date up to the upcoming Monday, some even that ran waivers that same Monday. In every one of them the entire league exchanged e-mails before the request was made to make sure no manager objected. If one manager objected, then we all waited that extra week out of courtesy for that manager. I find it strange that a person from any league would request that type of change without feed back from the entire league.

I think Bernie did the correct thing by pushing the start date back to the original start date due to the recklessness of your league member.

It's not recklessness unless the guy just straight up lied about everyone else in the league saying it was ok. Not sure if that's what happened, but I doubt it.

[quote:a2fb814531]The reason it was changed is because it was pointed out to me that the league filled before midnight, and historically any drafts that run at midnight on Friday night resulted in an Opening Day that Monday.[/quote:a2fb814531]

I always thought the cutoff was 10 pm EST on Friday, corresponding to the time lineups, starting pitching assignments have to be in. I like to have the extra time to talk trades and stuff. So I always wait until after 10 EST to drop my team in a league.

So what is the official time? Is it midnight EST or 10 EST? Seems an important deadline.

If a live draft is completed or an auto draft occurs before Friday at midnight, then the waivers are Sunday and the league starts that Monday.

Many times our live draft will finish up at 12:05 pushing the start date back the extra week. That is usually when we request Bernie to make it sooner instead.
