The 1989 Giants challenge you to a theme

I was going to try and put together a Atlanta Braves team. I realized there is no SP card for J Smoltz. (D Eckersley should have a SP card too.)

Good Question Paul

I thought you could take any card listed in ATG VI, if the player was on your roster during the season you picked? Maybe some guidelines need to be put out so were all on the same page.

if it's shamber's way, I may adjust my team (no reason to get stuck with Clementes 7L year) or just pick another....no big deal, just would like to know

Bbrool can weigh in, it's his league concept... I was operating under the assumpton, that if a player had that year's card then that is what is used, it was only if a player was not available where other years would be considered.

I am using the 1980 carter, dawson, cromartie etc even though they have other usable alternatives e.g. 1977-79 or later into the 1980's.

For the Phils I wasn't thinking the 1972 Carlton would be used, nor the Bowa from 1978.

Anyway that was my understanding but Bbrool's rules rule

While up to the Commish, I agree that we should use the card for the year we've selected if available and only use other years when the year being played is not available.

And yes that means I am taking '80 Carlton and '80 Bowa for the Phils despite better cards in other years.

Put me down for the '88-'90 A's and I'll see if I can put a viable team together.

also.....I can change my team if you guys would like this to be a post 1970 theme....I'd just have to make a mid-70s Reds team work.

andy,

just an fyi, but Bill Lee has a '78 Boston card. Sucks that there is no Eck card to use since he was their ace in '78
