ATG new cards batch #5 debuts 1/30/12

Teasers Part the Second

Postby bernieh » Thu Jan 12, 2012 3:00 pm

Hey there!

Today we visit the nostalgia portion of our teaser run. You guys asked for a lot of '70s and '80s cards in the poach request thread, and I'm more than happy to oblige. These players, though not historic by any means, provided us all with our personal "All-Time Great" moments growing up as young baseball fans.

Still no exact projected date for when this batch will debut, but I'm making sure that all my prep work is done well in advance so that when the prices come in, you'll see them immediately.

good question on the prices. I thought Bernie did the pricing. If not him then who is doing it?

Prices are set by a select committee of the International Monetary Fund with Scott Boras and Led Steinberg rotating as the commissioner. Needless to say Lee was commissioner when Arky's price was set and Boras when prices were set for Ruth, Bonds, and Josh Gibson.

No defensive wizards that's for sure. I don't know how many 1 or 2 range 1B in the player set have 20 errors, but it seems like a lot.

By 20 errors are you referring to the error rating?
If so two 1 rated 1B have e20 and six 2 rated have e20 or higher.

In a player set this size that is not many.

Not a bad start; the 2nd most expensive C in the card set, coupled with a really good small-ball bat at 2B and nice years from Mayberry and Kong.

I'm pretty sure that Joe the Jet has been setting the prices, at least with the recent additions. Just not sure how long that practice has going on. I had always assumed that Bernie had developed a pricing model that got tweaked with each new version release but that may have just my been my naivete
