One way to do it is to have a couple innings eaters in the rotation.

I am happy with the way Murray is being used on this team of mine:

The trick is that I've flipped the rotation order from lowest to highest to be Pedro - Babe - Jones - Oswalt - Russo.
The idea being that I want Murray to relieve Oswalt the most, Pedro the next most and then anyone else who happens to get hurt early. He's only on track for 185 IP or so, but he is getting about 58% of bullpen innings.

If I were building this one again, I'd be cheaper at one other pitcher. Maybe Russo. Or Russo and Oswalt. Then pitch them Pedro - Rep 1 - Adams - Rep 2 - Jones.

The odd side effect of this: in the rare occasion when a pitcher goes down with an injury that causes them to miss a start, Murray starts.

Strat-O-Matic has always made their cards mainly to be used in "As Played" replays. Their main goal when creating the cards is that not only the players perform as they did, but the stock teams do as well. Most SOM players who do not play here are in leagues where usage (innings pitched or PAs) rules are strictly enforced. Here at TSN we are doing something entirely different (not better or worse just different).

There is no reason why someone could not start a league that enforces such usage rules. But as long as the rules remain as they are, it is not cheating to get as much playing time out of a particular player as possible.

The super advanced clutch hitting rule is one rule that I do not think should be used in these draft superstar leagues. The clutch hitting rule was designed by SOM to be used in "as played replays" with actual "stock" teams. Too many players are negative clutch and I do not think it should be that way, especially with these all time greats.

Without clutch in effect, I think the scoring might be even more out of hand. Not massively, but somewhat more.
