One Year Wonder/Best Cards

Postby voovits » Sat Feb 25, 2012 9:21 pm

Several of the players mentioned are already in the 90s mystery card game. That game is full of one year wonder cards. Full enough to fill an offense with them.

In fact, I did that and won a title.

I am not a fan of the one year wonders. They are the opposite of the all time greats

The point of the team was to load up with top quality pitching and to try and find the cheap players with only 1 or 2 good cards and end up with a good, cheap offense.
With just 1 exception (A-Rod) on offense, I started the season with all players who had 1 or 2 good seasons and 3 or 4 clunkers. That applied pretty much all the way down to the .75 guys.

Now as far as careers go, they dont all qualify and one year wonders, but with the one exception of A-Rod (and later, Bonilla), they all only have one or 2 usable seasons.

There are more players who fit the one year wonder description not on this roster, but still in the game, but a good percentage of them are either on the team or was on the team at one point 9I drop them once I know they're not good).

Miguel Dilone 1980 (.341 BA 61 SB) over 500 PA

He is batting over .400 for me in my 1980 replay (He batted .341 in real life) on the CD-ROM in about 40 games.

I think Frank would just like to have an option to include them or not.

IMO, there are plenty of guys in here that are [u:8c63265ea2]not[/u:8c63265ea2] in their best year, yet they are considered All Time Greats.

As well as a few guys ALREADY as [u:8c63265ea2]One Year Wonders[/u:8c63265ea2]...

I think we need a Don Slaught card....I mean we have Darren Daulton for crying out loud! Not really a 1 year wonder, but hey I'm just sayin'. 1992 or '93 would be solid choices.
