Why have specialists?

Don't have to look far from the example you chose...Just the year before Orosco face 69 batters only 11 were righthanded. My guess even a few of those were due to a righty ph were a second switch of pitchers wasn't allowed.

= lefty specialist.

He pitched that year a total of 35 games to 61 batters, once in every 5 games. I wonder how many time it was wondered in the games pitched a fan in the stands said, " We have Orosco and he hasn't pitched in 3 days why wasn't he brought in? This level of performance is easily obtained in this game if that is the standard of which is wanted to attend.

Here are a few examples. They are usually lefties.

Wow I wish I had all the answers. :?

I dunno maybe being a Met fan I can point to Tim Byrdak last year getting in 72 games and facing and almost 2-1 ratio of lefties. (I hope 72 games is enough, and I hope my almost 2-1 statement is close enough to post here also)

168 batters faced, 110 lefties, 58 righties.

I play a little more than you Charlie, so I'm not basing my comments on one inning, or one game, or one season.

I worked almost a year on the bullpen fix with Bernie (and a couple of others) so I know of what I speak. The bp is much improved but it also has much more room for further improvement.

One quick example is when a pitcher scheduled to lead off an inning, in an obvious ph circumstance, the computer often brings in the same handed rp to face him, and "then" HAL brings up the opposite side ph.....thats bass ackwards from real Baseball and how it should be done here. Bernie knew of this, knows of this, said it'll be addressed at some point....that was about 2 years ago though.

I agree that the game engine could use improvement. My strategy is most likely a flawed basis. I will erase the post

Excellent point about the offensive manager having to make the first choice commitment and the game not doing it

You make another point concerning Bernie know abot it but so hot addressing it. That sparks a question in my mind. In the software company I work for if we are not able to fix a problem immediately we post that problem in the known isssues section of our release notes.

If there a wiki page or whatever that displays the problems Bernie knows about is not able to fix at this time? Bernie is very busy and we appreciate his hard work. But would be nice to have a place we can go and see what Bernie is aware of and plans to fix at some future day when he has time. I know for me if something does not work right it helps to know those who can fix it are aware of it and will get around to it sooner or later. Added bonus if this "known issues" page also offered some sense of what priority it has for getting fixed.

High: next on todo list?
Low: Will get around to it some day if I ever get bored.
Medium : Somewhere in between.
