[quote:875949f8c2="Rob55"]I think your team is much better now. You need a lead off man though. I would dump Slaughter for Keller so I had a lead off hitter. I think the pitching might need a little work yet.[/quote:875949f8c2]

Definitely Keller for Slaughter...a no brainer IMHO... :)

Rest of the team looks pretty smart!

I would do the Kelly for Slaughter like you all suggest but I am a little short of money. I am shy by about 300K or so. That means I would have to downgrade a starting player or, heaven forbid, downgrade a pitcher to be able to do it. Is going from Slaughter to Kelly worth it? Also Slaughter is a 600 PA guy (3 game injury max) and Kelly is not. Does this factor into your thinking at all?

It figures into mine. Especially if you go with all nickel backups. Slaughter can go down for 3 games, Keller 15. Defense is a little better with Slaughter but from looking at Keller's card, his OBP will no doubt be higher. It depends on how you feel about it and what your looking for. Balance low injury with better defense against high injury probability with better offense. If you go by Petrosian's chart, which I think is excellent, you might want to sacrifice the defense for the hitting. Then it comes down to what kind of shape you'll be in if (when) Keller goes down for 10 or 15 games.

Thanks Simon, and everyone else, for your input. If I had the cash I probably would get Keller for Slaughter. Since I would have to screw up another position to do it, and for the injury concern, I am going to keep what I have. In fact I think I am going to start the season with the schmucks I've got now and see what happens. This being my very first team in ATG and all it will be a learning experience for me anyway.

Thanks again to everyone! 8)

You could easily raise the necessary cash for Keller by going for backups who actually can play defense - Carey/Weis/Dahlgren/Zimmerman/Craft and the like

from my perspective, doing so would be a good idea - why pay extra money for players you don't actually want to get into the game? :)

my 2 cents

Who would you lead off in that lineup Simon? .... I don't like 15 game injuries either...hate them in fact, but he doesn't have a lead off man. Enos might have a .350 OBP.....Keller will be over .400 most times...who do you think will score the msot runs? ..... Your fantasy lineup has to somewhat mirror REAL baseball.... a good lead off hitter, a #2 man to move him along ...then the animals to drive him home. I don't think Enos is a poor choice for his team, I do think Keller is a better fit.... but I am not the best bomber team builder so what do I know .....
