At least it gives the Royals some help to go along with Brett.

ANd Kingman sure was busy in 1977 huh?

Player pricing has been spun off into a subsidiary company--sort of like the Dodgers.

Cadillac seasons are super-advanced and represent 1000's of hours of painstaking research by SOM to provide us with the most realistic stats possible, at least according to their hype.

Other seasons, the vast majority, rely more on canned formulas, where for example, the default is 20 gba's per hitter card and none at all on the pitchers card. [/quote:3640ae83f3]

The vast majority of Strat seasons are "Cadillac" seasons (or at least more than half) with the exception of some of the older seasons and the pre 1900s seasons.

Teasers Part the Third

T.G.I. Pitcher Day!

The most requested pitcher card in the poach request thread was this guy, so he'll be making his ATG debut:

[img:92f23ed0d7]http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/images/stratomatic/marketing/atg6/teasers/jose_rijo_1991.gif[/img:92f23ed0d7]

Turning the dial up on the Mania...

To the question, "Who is doing the prices?" - I personally have no problem with anyone knowing how the prices are calculated and who's behind them, but let me just make sure they're ok with it first. In the past they've indicated that being anonymous was fine, but I haven't checked lately if it's preferred. Let it be known, though, that while I have the responsibility of being the ultimate arbiter, I take no credit for the genius behind the formulas.

(For those who can't see the card images for some reason, they're supposed to be: Jose Rijo 1991, Fernando Valenzuela 1982)[/size:92f23ed0d7]

would still rather have '81 Valenzuela (the real Fernando-mania year when he won the ROY and CY and top5 in MVP). That would be a great addition to the 5-man rotation option.

A couple of pitchers who are a must for Minute Maid in capped leagues.

I am the one who developed the current model for pricing. If you go back and read my history of posts, I have touched on the various aspects and factors included in the pricing model, but I have never come right out and said how I might know this information.

While I am the developer of the model, there is lots of input for each set which is incorporated into final pricing. The model incorporates a number of sabermetric variables the value of each can be manipulated based on the feedback from the testers group.

As background I began playing ATG1 and based on comments and discussions in the original forums and the people I met there, I was asked to join the testers group. I had my own pricing model long before I was actually involved in reviewing prices and eventually establishing them. As part of my original work, I was "testing" how accurately I could produce actual ATG1 player stats. during that process I began culling actual league data for certain key players which included Mays and Yount and an interesting thing came to light. Even though they had an injury they always played in 162 games. It was from that process that the 680 PA limit was discovered that you all know and use today.

I can't remember exactly when the pricing switched to me, but it has been a long while. Over the years the model has evolved based debates and discussions with a number of key contributors, most notably Riggodrill.

I am a member of the community like each of you. This is a hobby for me and I am not an employee of TSN or SOM. I have been playing the board game since college in 1986 and have always been drawn to the mathematical probabilities of the game. My early beginning started with manually calculating OB chances and became more sophisticated over the years until I had a fully developed runs created model.

While the factors have been slightly tweaked between SOM games, the pricing is primarily built around Paul Johnson's estimated runs created formula and then fortified with value over replacement concepts.
