I actually wrote something else, but decided at the last second not to post it. From what he wrote it sounded to me like he's got some unresolved personal issues and he redirecting his anger toward the MB's.

I think I'm usually a pretty nice guy, but if you start with me I go into a vindictive mode when it comes to trash talk. I just didn't want go there. I'm recovering from surgery, I just wanna relax...

But hey, if you guys want to fight with him, that's fine with me.

LOL

I think it does stem from the top level of the org. And a manager in this situation with integrity would never even consider removing/protecting his player. That would speak volumes to the team on character. Even more so if the owner fires the manager on the spot for such a selfish move. What a powerful way to lay down a vision and standards for what it means to be a Met.

You play the game to win as a team--but if the management acts to accentuate the individual glory over the team, that's a standard the players will live/play by. Reap what's sown.

It's pretty sad. But not unexpected from the Mets.[/quote:b78ceccbe3]

Look, they have an owner who claims to have been fooled by Madoff (right-- that means he's dumb instead of just sleazy) and who built a new stadium as a monument to the Brooklyn Dodgers, basically pissing on any Met fans under the age of about 75. It starts from the top. And I say that as a lifelong fan. Sure, it might get better, but I won't feel great about this team until Wilpon and his family are gone. Jose's antics are the least of it.

Lifelong Mets fan here, with a question...

Can we get Frank Cashen back somehow?

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. My mom was a huge Dodger fan. I've come to feel her pain...albeit somewhat. At least the Boys of Summer made it to the WS a number of times.

I'm not ready to jump ship but I'm really getting to the point of just not caring anymore. How can a big market team be so bad?

I'm not sure what the answers are for them. Part of me really wants them to send Reyes/Wright and Bay packing and build their farm system up. I'd love to see the young talent out there. I'd also love to hear them say..."Look fans, this is what we are doing. We are rebuilding from inside out".

I'd also like them to be more forthcoming with injuries. ie. Ike Davis In Met terminology, the 15 day DL stay = a season ending injury. How can a guy hurt an ankle (sprain/bone bruise) and then miss 3/4 of the season? And then Johan Santana? Keep teasing us with him coming back? He will never EVER be the same if/when he comes back...

I could ramble on forever as my 3rd cup of coffee is kickin in, but I'll spare you all right now...

Pillpop is so right. Visick too...Reyes is the least of the problems that start with Wilpon and his son, who I fear is even worse.

I don't know why, but as a Mets fan I found this amusing...

I'm not sure I agree with the premise that if Reyes had gone out and torn up a knee he would have been considered dumb for playing in a meaningless game. If that's the case couldn't he be considered dumb for playing in ANY game after the Mets were eliminated? After all, they would be equally "meaningless".

As has been said, what Reyes did isn't unprecedented. And it's not worth getting your panties in a bunch...but it is pretty weak IMO.

"How can a big market team be so bad" in reference to the Mets? The Mets
finished 6 games ahead of the Cubs. Also a big market team.If Met fans
want to explore true misery they can always switch to the Cubs.
