ATG III Team Teaser #9

Postby aceventura55369 » Thu Jul 20, 2006 10:21 am

Sundberg will get more use than Battey, his OBP is slanted towards RHP's. I suspect with reasonable pricing he'll get plenty of use as will a number of other players on this team.

I am surprised at all of the negativity towards this team or any team for that matter, we're going to have 1500+ players to choose from and you still have to work under a cap. Iif you don't like a team don't use them, there will still be many other options for you. 8)

Yeah, the negativity is confusing. I like the odd teams, because they will have players that will prove to be useful. Plus there are still 14 more teams to announce and I'm sure they are saving some of the better ones for last.

I actaully have a lot more fun discovering the hidden gems - the Bishops, Heathcotes, Larry Gardners of the world - rather than the George Sislers of the world. I already know Nap Lajoie is great-- I'm more curious to find out how useful Len Barker is going to be.

Some people just aren't happy unless they're unhappy.

I could see 6 guys getting regular play on this team. And you just never know who the next Chick Stahl is going to be.

I believe this team was picked primarily for Gaylord Perry and, to a lesser degree, Bert Blyleven. It's kind of hard to find a truly great team where Perry was truly great. His inclusion here would suggest that a '69 or '70 Giants team is not in the plans. However, the fact that the '74 Rangers weren't brought back would suggest that there [i:b8aa4543d2]is[/i:b8aa4543d2] a late '60s, early '70s Cubs team with Fergie Jenkins on the horizon.

The standards are being relaxed. The All Time Great teams, for the most part, are already in the set. Going forward, let's understand that we're probably going to be getting mostly decent seasons from Hall of Fame-caliber players. Roll with it.

The only thing I find "weird" with this pick is that SEVEN of players on this team will not be represented as they will have better cards else where. That is basically one-third of a normal team roster. seems a bit strange to pick a team but leave so much of it out.

I'll try to be diplomatic and say I'm tired of the complaining. We are 9 teams into what we knew would be at least 20 teams. Isn't it a bit early to start talking about drastic reductions in the number of teams we buy, they don't listen to us etc?????????

Keep up the good work Bernie. Your efforts are appreciated.
