Back to the 60's- Ballpark draft done ..now put a team in !

Postby GREGDALY » Sat Feb 11, 2006 8:16 pm

Since I've done 1 live draft and that league just finished (Fireside), my thoughts:

1) I had the #1 pick and got W Mays - so far so good.
2) I set proxies (not really knowing what to expect) - and, uh ohhhh.
3) I got H Aaron, Yaz and about 3-4 other OF's with picks 2-7
4) I screwed myself not drafting P's well

Team mercifully finished 72-90, 3rd place, 17 games out.

My advice:
1) Make sure you're available to check the boards when it's your pick - I was traveling and my proxies went wild.
2) Make sure you know what your proxies are going to do - good luck with that one, cuz I still have no idea what happened, but I'm blaming that on me being in Amsterdam for most of the draft.

I figure by about my 5th live draft, I'll figure something out... but it sure is fun. Good luck!

None of the lottery pick 3's have run yet today at this time . So , later tonight ,I'll list the results , then in order pick your park . After that its 1st come 1st serve in the league . Remember only players from teams 1950-to 1980 . With some communicating here we can get this drafted soon . Then we should be able to start play Feb 20th .

I have never done a live draft as alot of us havent . We will autodraft and everyone here is known and honest . We can do the check for players not eligible on the Saturday before the league starts .

Put your ballpark selection next to your name please. Massachusetts doesn't have a pick 3 so I took the 1st 3 numbers of their pick 4 . Once you list your park put your team together . Once I get my team together I will start the league with a PW .

A Few Questions

Postby rschwartz51 » Sun Feb 12, 2006 12:43 am

Could I get a summary of the status of the league. I've read the entire thread and am a little confused. I'm a veteran and have participated in numerous drafts so my questions may simply be from over analysis.

Autodraft
$80M Cap
Waivers
No DH

1) What is the timing for running the league? I see want to start the 20th.

2) I see the parks are by lottery.

3) Don't quite understand how we're doing waivers. Since HAL will be substituting noneligible players there will be no basis to the draft order.
I've not seen anything regarding a frenzy time.

Is there any LIve Draft or is there a Frenzyafter Waivers is done and no actual draft prior to Waivers.

bob , we are going to choose ballparks as of now for an autodraft in a 80M no DH waivers league . The sooner we get this portion done , the sooner we move on to drafting teams via autodraft ! Like I had said , you know you will end up with some players who dont fit the structure of the league . Use your waivers and then after waiver time to straighten that out . It will work , no worries mate ! I do believe we will have this ready to start on the 20th if we work at getting it set up to go and then do it .
