While the tease does sound like Ruth, the pitcher, I am not sure SOM would allow that right now. The Ruth pitching card is in SOM's 2010 Hall of Fame set, and that card is marketed and promoted as "exclusive" to the set. It is a prime selling point.
So, to provide a counterpoint, since Bernie used the phrase "All-Time Best" and not "All-Time Greats" I wonder if it is something different. Perhaps a managing great with a card? Connie Mack (1889, 1890)? Or a pre-modern era "great" not in ATG, such as Tip O'Neil (1887)? Or a Best from another sport? Deion Sanders?

i'm thinking another year from cobb, jackson, a catcher, ss, gehringer, etc. when you consider ba+, obp+, etc. we don't necessarily have the player's best year(s). ex. chief wilson's 36 triple year!!!!!

Could it be Lou Gehrig?

I've certainly never seen him like this.

[quote:c8f4f390a2="bernieh"]The first batch of new cards will land next week! When exactly next week will be narrowed down when I have a better idea of when their prices will be finalized.

Then, a new batch of card debuts every month thereafter.

Teasers to start coming this week. Here's a pre-teaser teaser:

One of the All-Time Best - like you've never seen him before.

More to come![/quote:c8f4f390a2]

Bernie,

Well played.

If the cards have been sent for pricing I assume that means which cards we are getting are known. How about some names/years? Card images?

Definitely. It's always my intention. Puttin' them together right now. You'll see the first ones later today, or tomorrow morning, in a new dedicated post.

Lou lost the Tarzan role because they thought his legs were too muscular. I kid you not.
