Excellent. I will have my team in sometime today, certainly by this evening at the latest. So, do we retain exclusive rights to our lettered players all season, or do all players on the FA wire become fair game, once the draft has occurred?

My understanding is that the purity of the teams remains all season, so you have exclusive rights to the players from your letter pool all season.

As far as I can tell 8 letters have been selected: A, B, C, D, G, M, W & S.
Any interest in giving a rookie like me Y, O & P? I could form the YOPs.

I know 3 letters is a bunch but Y and O don't have many players and all the best letters are taken. I looked at only using Y and P but besides Yaz there are no other OFs available. O gives me choices of Oliva, Ott, Ogilvie and Office. Even with YOP I will be very light at 2B, 3B & C.

Anyway, I think I can make YOP work. Let me know if it is approved. I think for the last 4 teams you are going to have to have letter combinations to make the teams competitive IMO.

My stadium choices could be Polo Grounds, Olympic Stadium, Yankee Stadium or Oakland Coliseum.

I really have no objection, especially since I just want to get the league going, but just note for the record that it gives you about a third more available FAs than I have:

P - Pitchers: 22, Hitters: 25
O - Pitchers: 8, Hitters: 17
Y - Pitchers: 3, Hitters: 5
YOP - Pitchers: 33, Hitters: 47
----------------------------------
W - Pitchers: 24, Hitters: 25

Of course, this is merely a quantitative analysis and doesn't take into account the quality of the available talent.

Having roughly scanned the available letters, it seems to be that L, R, H are good on their own and E-F and T-U-V are workable combinations. If LM will take Y-O-P there shouldn't be any problem finding four more willing managers.

OK, I don't want to have more options than the next guy. If YOP is too much then I am willing to take suggestions.

What could be done is for someone to come up with 4 acceptable letters or letter combinations for the remaining teams. These could be taken on a first come first serve basis.

The YOP team I am looking at might include:

1B - Boog Powell
2B - J. Pankovits or Oquendo (MAJOR OUCH)
SS- Yount
3B - Terry Pendleton (ouch)
C - O'Neill
LF - Yaz
CF - Mel Ott
RF - Oliva
DH - maybe Ogilvie or Pesky but I'm not sure yet. No superstars would be available however.

Pitchers
There would be a good selection of SP to pick from depending on where I am at with the salary cap including Cy Young, Jim Palmer, Pfiester, Pollett, Osteen, Ojeda, Overall, O'Dell, Ogden, Phillippe and Pascual.
Relievers would start with Perranoski but is very weak after that.

If this team would be much better than most of the teams from earlier letters I will just have to come up with something else.

What do you all think?

I will wait for an official OK on my Y-O-P team. Once I get the OK I will enter the league. If it is deemed unfair I will try to find something else that is OK.

On another subject...Does anyone know how I can download the ATG2 player pool into Excel format so that I can review it faster than by using the TSN website and sorting by player name then clicking next, next, next....untill I get to P? I know about searching for just the letter P which is a good trick except there are more players than what can fit onto one page and I don't know how to see the rest of the players. O and Y are no problem.

I moved my team over to the new league. I haven't done enough research to see what letters are still workable, or what combo letters would be fair, but I am willing to trust the research and opinions of those that have. Whatever y'all decide is OK with me.

LM, I don't know about the player spreadsheet, but if you go to the master FA list and insert P, O or Y separately into the "name" slot and search, it will give you all the players whose names begin with that letter.

As I stated, I have no objection to the POY combo. Realize, of course, that we all work under some limitations with this theme format. I'm not thrilled with my choices at 1B, RF. 3B or C, or with my RPs. And with an $80 mil cap, I can't have both my best SPs and Ted Williams (I'm figuring on the SPs, but may change my mind after draft). That's the challenge of this theme: that not all skills are distributed evenly throughout the alphabet.
