This team is at the 129 game mark of the season and has a 64-65 record. This is despite the fact that they are 2nd in the entire league in run differential with a + 80 run differential. They are in 4th place in their division, 9 games behind a team with a - 40 run differential.

No one on the team is lighting it up, but then again, no one is struggling mightily either ..........

Any suggestions??? I've tinkered with the lineup. Changed the bullpen settings. Changed managerial settings.

Now, I'm turning to you my brothers for suggestions, because I've run out of ideas.

Here's what is happening, I would guess - vs LHP, you win games 8-3; vs RHP, you lose games 3-2, thus leading to your run diff. Your lineup is very susceptible to strong RHP. Flood, Clemente, Pendleton, Sanguillen, Wilson will all get shut down by good righties. I would either try to trade one for a left handed hitter, or, with only 33 games to go, do something real drastic:

Drop Hughson for a nickel sub 1M good in pitchers parks (you know the guys), and get the best LH hitter you can afford at either LF or CF out of free agency. That will hurt you every 4th game when you platoon Meyer and scrub #2, but will boost your offense enough to give you an edge. Will it be enough? Probably not, but it's worth a shot.

That was definitely one option I was mulling over .......

Here are some of the options I was considering:

Mickey Cochrane for Sanguillen
Wade Boggs for Pendleton
Bake McBride or Len Dykstra for Flood
Reggie Smith for Clemente :shock:

On a pitching note...

Worrell and Osinski are 2-8, ERA over 5.00... what are they doing getting so involved in your games? I'd replace them with two .50M S/R's, and set those into your "rotation" (of course NOT starting in per-games), so they are barely involved.

With such strong starters in pitchers parks, I can't imagine limiting your bullpen to 3 guys (Giusti, Hall, Fosnow) would hurt you, nor would they tire. And even though the two scrub relievers show that 2-8 record, they likely cost you some wins w/o getting the direct loss... in other words, I'll bet your record would be more than 8 full games better than it is, and thus you'd be in wildcard position.

Not sure changing out enough cash (80% level) to get one of your high-priced lefty bats (Smith, Boggs) won't hurt you more than it helps... I would put in Dykstra for Flood though, that shouldn't dilute your effective salary very much but may pay some dividends anyway!

Agree with Trey, your card OBP vs RHs is .373, too low. Suggest:

Hughson for Sanderson (your fav) :)
Worrell for nickle guy
Wilson for Brock
Manny for Cochrane

Your OBP vs RHs goes over .400, and is close to .400 even with Brock.

You could keep Worrell and drop Mullin instead, there might be enough $ to put Wilson in CF for Flood.

If you want, get Clines to platoon with Brock, or use Fox vs a hard LH.

Made some changes. Went the Brock/Clines route. Once before about a year ago a switch to Brock/Clines brought me a ring ..... ahhhh, dare to dream.

Sorry sschu, couldn't bring myself to take Sanderson .... with any luck he won't be in ATG 3 and I'll never have to even consider taking him again.

Scott Sanderson tossed a no-no for me once a long time ago, you missed the boat not taking him. :)

Day one update ......

Hal Carlson pitched a complete game shutout for me in his first start.

Brock and Clines are a combined 0 for 12.

We went 1-2 last night. :cry:
