Replaying SOM seasons. 27 Pirates, 41 WS, and misc...

I just love the 27 Pirates, and hope they are included in the ATG3 game. No power, but they have the Waners and Pie Traynor. I play the solataire board game, Super Advanced Rules, and enjoy replaying seasons. I just finished playing the 41 WS (after replaying the Red Sox & Yankees seasons. The Red Sox finished one game ahead of the Yanks). I thought the Red Sox would take the Dodgers. Ted Williams had an AWESOME season, hitting .437, but the Dodgers stunned the Red Sox and swept them 4 straight! Ted didn't even have an RBI. That 41 Dodger team was a good one. One neat thing about the 27 Reds, is pitcher Red Lucas. He is a starter who throws RH, and also has a hitters card, batting LH. He hit over .300 that season, and you use his hitting card in the lineup, instead of a pitcher's hitting card. Never seen that before. Anyway, the 27 Pirates are off to an impressive 8-0 start, despite losing Paul Waner, Pie and Grantham to inuries during that span. Usually takes me about 2-2 1/2 months to replay a season. After that, I will replay that monster 27 Yankees season. Will the Pirates have a chance against them in MY WS? I am probably the only one here who replays seasons the old fashioned way, by rolling dice, but it's something I've done since I was 17. :)

That sounds like a blast. I love the '27 A's. Connie Mack had alot of future hall of famers on that team; too bad the Yanks were so darn good.

I used to replay seasons that way also. Unfortunately I don't have the time now. I am currently using the CD-ROM game to replay the entire 1978 season. I'm playing all the games manually. At the rate I'm going I might be done with the WS in late OCT when the real one concludes. I could just set up each team's CM and autoplay them, but this way is much more fun!

I last replayed the '78 Dodgers and the '79 Pirates with the board game about 25 years ago. It was a great deal of fun. I wish I had as much time now. :(

Yeah, it DOES take time. It's my main hobby, outside of playing softball, watching the Red Sox, watching movies, and playing with my grandson. :) My wife is very understanding of my baseball passion. It helps that she also loves sports. We will have the Red Sox (or Pats) on TV some nights, she will crochet and I will play SOM. Sample conversation on these nights - (ME) "Wow honey! Ted Williams just hit a grand slam in the bottom of the 9th for a comback win over the Yankees!" (WIFE) "That's great, dear. Look how many rows I got done since you yanked Lefty Grove in the 4th!" :) Can't wait for my son to get back from Colorado, as he likes to play face to face SOM with me. I miss that.

Wow. That woman is a saint. If there was a Strat HOF she'd have her own wing. What a fantastic woman. We should all be so lucky.......

My (now ex) wife used to compalin about me being on the computer too much. I once told her that if she didn't nag me so much maybe I wouldn't be...That didn't go over too well..... :? Needless to say, I have a little more time for Strat now.......
