Trade----thoughts?

Trade----thoughts?

Preseason trade. Talks were precipitated by an offer league wide of Brown and/or Hughson before a possible dump of one or both for a league beginning tonight. The trade was done but we are curious as to the thought of others on the trade.

Snodgrass, Fred ($3,820,000)
Roseboro, Johnny ($630,000)
Perranoski, Ron ($3,200,000)
Brown, Three Finger ($11,080,000)

for

Kuntz, Rusty ($1,250,000)
Jones, Cleon ($6,070,000)
Humphreys, Bob ($3,030,000)
Hernandez, Willie ($5,310,000)

Fleeced isn't the right word, but I'd much rather have 3-Finger than anyone coming the other way. Humphreys is just another guy, Kuntz is very spotty in platooning. Roseboro is one of the most valuable nickel realm subs. Since I'm basically calling the two smaller pieces on each side even, C. Jones and W. Hernandez for 3-Finger and Snodgrass is a really easy choice in my book.

Had Brown Hughson and cheap starters. Wanted to go with a hitting team and try that hot new cf platoon..

Thought if anything I was getting fleeced but wanted to be sure I wasn't the doing the fleecing. Thanks.

I didn't like the idea of 3FB ending up in my division on the deal ! :x

Agents for 3FBrown, Camnitz, and Babe Adams are currently holding tri-lateral talks with their team's ownership, hoping to find a way to put all three under contract, and thus avoiding a last minute SP walkout...

my thought is that if you want to move Brown for salary, trading him for a few good players is fine, but why include Peranoski and Rosboro? I am biased for and against some of these guys, but for me, take out Brown, I'd still make the trade for the other guys.

I would say you got fleeced! If you want a hitting team...OK...but you could have gotten a helluva lot more than Jones for Brown.

As the other owner involved, I certainly don't feel like a fleece-eee, but if I am, it was not intended to be that way... (we'd exchanged dialog prior to the trade being worked out).

FYI- this is a theme league (each owner has rights to one ATG team and must play that stadium)... so the theme added some wrinkles to this particular trade... including that there are only 2 extreme pitcher parks in the league, vs. the usual 4 to 8, so the demand for top-salary SP's was lower than usual (given more hitter-oriented team makeups)

Other factors... Mr. BBW announced to the league that 3FB was available.. not sure there were other offers.. so getting Cleon & WillieH/Humphreys (for a hitting team) for soon to be released 3FB (& Snodgrass/Roseboro) doesn't seem like a bad deal to me.

I think with just the 2 extreme pitchers parks, there was also less demand for the value guys like Snodgrass and Roseboro (would you put those guys in BakerB, Shibe29, Riverfront, Memorial70?)

Just wanted to weigh in with my thoughts... as someone new to the ATG-2 game... I definitely appreciate everyone's perspective on the matter.
