Anyone ever use him in a smallball park? I know his fielding is terrible, but his pop may win a few games. .. or would someone like Cepeda be better.

I personally would not use him at 1B in a small park. Would rather go with a Chance, Judge, Luderus, etc... I just think fielding is so important in a pitchers park that you do not want to risk a 4 at any postion..although if you were going to, i guess 1B would be the one eh?
Not sure what your $$ situation is, but for a million more, i would rather have Cooper, Powell, Murray, Collins or Hodges...if you can...
my .02 :)

I have the $$ for Powell, I was thinking maybe platooning McCovey with someone, I could use someone who kills RH pitchers. Dodger 65 might hurt Powell more due to the BPHR's on his card compared to Cepeda or McCovey.

I wouldn't object to using McCovey in a smallball park. He has more natural HRs than almost any player in the set vs righties. I'd rather use him than Powell, assuming the rest of your infield D is 1s and you have righties in the lineup.

There is also the injury aspect to McCovey, but agree with Trey and yourself, he has alot of natural BPHRs vs righties.....I guess I am just more of a defensive guy :) Hate to give away runs, but as I said earlier, if you are going to go with a 4, 1B is the place to do it!

I seem to be missing a LH bat. Not that I'm complaining, they're doing very well. Just seem to be losing some games where I get 10 hits and 2 runs.

I say roll the dice. I think he's money.
McCovey is soo streaky, but when he's on the rampage he wins so many games for me.
I picked up for a Forbes team in yet another late season desperation move to break .500.
He did great, my team started to be respectable.
He knocked in 37 runs in 44 games, scored 35 times, hit 13 HR's and batted 290, w/ an OBP of 352.
The team went from 10 games under to 1 game under. Mission accomplished.

Who would he replace? The 4 guys who he could replace are Stephenson, Speaker, Simmons, or Musial. I'd rather have those 4 than McCovey, unless you have a trade in the works to upgrade another position with one of those guys.

Agree, would rather have musial at 1B than McCovey any day! :)
