Bernie,
I have a question regarding the injury rating system. The examples I am going to use are:
Eddie Collins
Yr Tm G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS BA SLG OBP
1919 CHA 140 518 87 165 19 7 4 80 68 27 33 0 .319 .405 .400
Buck Weaver
Yr Tm G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS BA SLG OBP
1919 CHA 140 571 89 169 33 9 3 75 11 21 22 0 .296 .401 .315
Shoeless joe Jackson
Yr Tm G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS BA SLG OBP
1919 CHA 139 516 79 181 31 14 7 96 60 10 9 0 .351 .506 .422
I am not actually a JJ fan. He hit .265 for me on a team that lost the division and WC in the final game of the season. A few more hits... As you can tell I am still mad at him haha. Back to my question...
Collins and Weaver are both a 0 injury risk having played 140 out of 140
(The Black Sox were 88-52 that year) Games played. Shoeless Joe missed only 1 game during the season yet is an injury risk of 1. I can see him not being bullet-proof but taking his AB's + BB's it adds up to a potential 15 game injury risk. My favorite griffith player, Gary Carter, is only a 3 game risk despite having missed 8 of his seasons games (incredible for an NL catcher!!!). My question is... Can the injuries be normalized based upon games played for a season? Rather than have only the 600 PA policy, would it be possible to have a player miss only 1-3 games if he missed only a few games During the actual season? I am actually not a big fan of normalization (wagner's 54 e's makes him available for me haha) but this would definitely add a bit more realism. in the next example, Bob Meusel, i think the current system is perfect.
Bob Meusel
Yr Tm G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS BA SLG OBP
1927 NYY 135 516 75 174 47 9 8 103 45 58 24 10 .337 .510 .393
During the regular season he missed 19 games (too much partying with the babe) so he should have the potential of missing 15 games at a pop.
Now Alan Trammell
Yr Tm G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS BA SLG OBP
1984 DET 139 555 85 174 34 5 14 69 60 63 19 13 .314 .468 .380
Missed 23 of 162 games but is a 1 (1-3 games only) because of AB's and BB's. He also had a stint on the 15 Day DL that year.
I can see why the 600 PA setting is there. Perhaps we can start thinking about modifying this to include deadballers who played everyday and just did not get all the PA's having to face the big train old pete and others day in and day out... Perhaps this could be done on a percentage of games played basis? OK, back to figuring out how to get Pete, 3FB, Pfiester, Mays and Carter on the same team...
I also want to say this is a GREAT game! I appreciate the time and effort that goes into development and maintenance of this very realistic game... Thanks!!
Chris
