2005 Season...

I've got a 2005 Season credit.... I've never played that season... any hints or help, in whom to draft, would be appreciated.... :D

There are not a lot of good SPers, get yours early, if you want, that is....

RPers, are very deep, so....

you could draft hitters early (in which case, you'll probably get em) forget starters till after the draft, and load on bullpen too....

That, is probably the best way to get the most players listed on your draft card (VERY LOW WAIVER PICK THO)

The best way to have money after the draft is select BIG SPers 1-3, you'll either get Randy, or, have ATLEAST 6 million left just from missing out on HIM!!

Trust me, NO SPERS in this game

I would respectfully offer another opinion. There are plenty of effective starters that are non-*. I've had a modicum of success with my few 2005 teams, and this most recent was has truly been a joy to follow:

The key to this team was getting Ichiro first, then the middle infield. I saw plenty of options to fill the other positions, and took a shot at the non-* starters. Closers are plentiful, and I've been very lucky with the other relievers. A lot of the success here is due to the lack of veteran experience in the league, but this team is still my current pride and joy.

What kind of park do you want to play in 13 Baseballs?

Your choice of hitter friendly: both singles & HR's, HR's but low singles; Singles but low HR's. Pitcher friendly, lefty dominant or righty dominant?

Leo's got the right idea though. SP's are few and far between, and the big guns are gone by the second round, so if you want some of these guys, get 'em early. Problem here is that if you miss on the big guns, your consolation prizes are normally much, much less quality. I've basically given up on going this route since my second or third team back in March.

Most of the typical 1st round guys are: Johnson; Santana; Schmidt; Clemens; Sheets; Bonds; Pujols; Mora; Abreu; Ichiro; Tejada; Edmonds; Castillo.

Since I know nothing about these players and stadiums it's hard for me to say which way to go... I'm mainly trying to put together a winner (but ain't everybody).... just looking for help.... thanks..

Here are my only 2 2005 teams, both pitching teams at Petco. The first team I got everyone I wanted and based it on a 2005 thread where Luckyman rated all the players. The second team I tried the exact same draft order since the first was so successful but ended with a totally different team. Key players are Ichiro, Abreu, and Furcal in my opinion. And that Randy Johnson guy is really good, he three 2 no hitters for me.
